Greetings everyone!

I am new here and like most of the people here, I am hoping to change my life with raw foods and a new and healthy lifestyle. I have struggled with my weight and a long string of server injuries and issues and now at age 33 I am hoping to finally turn my life around and become the healthy, active person I know I can become. My idol is Brenden Frazer, a raw food enthusiast and competative Ironman triathlete. He is who I strive to become (in an accomplishment sense). I love swimming and triathlon and have suffered a string (7 yrs worth) of major injuries, from broken backs to stress fractues and have finally gotten the "all clear" from my doctor to start a full fledged workout program and to get back into competing. I've pu on between 30-40lbs of excess weight in the past 7 years and need to shed that weight and get myself back on track with consistent workouts.

I have known of and have admired the raw foods lifestyle for quite some time now. My biggest setback in accomplishing a complete raw foods lifestyle though is flat out MONEY!!! I'm just not in a very good financial situation right now and the thought of having to buy fresh produce every 2-3 days is not going to agree with my finances very well. However, I know how very important it is to get ones health and life back on track and right now that is a very high priority for me. I'm just hoping to be able to find a way to make this all work out.

I am very fortunate to have a very well stocked raw/organic foods supermarket nearby, however, they are very expensive, so I have to be frugile. I also have the challenge of having a boyfriend that is a staunch meat eater and am living with people who love their "snacky" foods and keep an abundence of it in the house. So my challenges will be great---by far. But I know how very important it is to regain ones true health, and I truely believe that going the raw foods way is the best way to gain health and fitness. I am an athlete and a survivor and I want to give my body what is best for it, no matter what the sacrifice. I'm just going to need a lot of support in the process!!!!

I will be looking to you all for loads of help, support and information...

peace out!
anya

Welcome to our raw world. You aren't the only one who has a dear other half who is a SAD eater. my dh is a sworn meat and potatoes and bread man at every dinner. But he does enjoy the raw desserts I make as well as some of the raw salads. I take pleasure in whatever raw thing he eats. Even tho your fellow roommates might have SAD snackies around that you think will entice you back to the dark side, just make sure you have your snackies to eat when you fell yourself falling. I find that having a nut torte in the fridge is great for when I need a sweet treat and just discovered sweet potato chips. OMG!! now those will keep me from those other chips....... go guilt chip eating with those babies....
