Since going raw Aug 1st my tastes and preferences have been changing fast. Its been like a series of cycles or something. For example at first mostly what I wanted to eat was fresh made veggie juice then after about a month I wanted mostly smoothies, including green smoothies, and I slowed down on the juicing a lot. Now I am finding myself wanting the food just as it comes from the garden without anything done to it but cutting it up on a cutting board and I find myself wanting fresh fruit more then I ever have before. I find that I want my foods served as simple as possible and not in combinations with other foods. I am satisfied with less food and I find myself listening to my body signals for what and when to eat. Also I was drinking lots of hot tea before going raw and without trying or even being aware of it when I went raw I stopped drinking tea and now I just love the taste of clean room temperature water. Is this typical of what happens to raw fooders in general or is this atypical ?. Has anyone else experienced changes in their tastes and preferences since going raw ?

I definitely have over the past 3 years since my raw journey began.. I never used to like certain things like tomatoes or oranges. Since going raw I've also tried tons of new things like durian, young coconut, dragonfruit, persimmons, etc. that I don't think I ever would have tried before.
As far as eating habits go, I tend to eat more earlier on in the day and less as the day goes by, whereas before I was a breakfast skipper and ate a relatively large dinner.

Now if only I could suddenly begin to like celery....:p

Now if only I could suddenly begin to like celery....:pAfter going all raw I found myself liking two green juices in particular: 1) romaine lettuce juice and 2) celery juice. Now I just love the taste of straight celery juice in a frosted mug. Try it you might be surprised. :)

I don't know about changing tastes, but I find that I'm liking more foods... simply because I'm trying them! I've been eating napa cabbage and beet tops and chard and I realized like them raw (I didn't like them cooked, as they tend to go slimy). I've also developed a taste for French breakfast radishes (they're not as spicy as the regular kind).

Today I tried goji berries and cacao nibs for the first time. I wasn't sure what to expect, so I didn't really have any preconceived notions. They're both interesting and tasty in their own way.

I find that, if anything, my tastes are just becoming more adventurous. I want to try different fruits and vegetables now. I'd really like to get my hands on a pitaya... those look so interesting!

I also find that when I have a craving for a raw food it doesn't go away like the sad counterpart would. If I want fresh orange juice, not only do I HAVE to have it, I have to have like three 28 ounce glasses of it before I am satisfied. Or Cucumber juice. I swear I could live off the stuff.....:D Also, when I find a recipe that I LOVE (eggless eggsalad) I will eat it everyday until I can't eat it anymore. I ate that stuff everyday for almost 3 weeks. Now I'm on refried beans (raw) and if there isn't some in the fridge, I start jonesing for it. LOL!!

I am now liking foods just as they are. Their perfect as is. For example today I got some bright yellow bell peppers and had a meal out of nothing but the bell peppers with no dip or anything just the whole natural raw food. When I was SAD I had to have a dip to enjoy them, now I don't want the dip just the food. I guess thats what I want to say in this thread, that some beautiful changes have occurred since going raw. My relationship to food is changing.

My tastes have changed dramatically upon going raw, and I often wonder what to feed my friends for dinner, as I must think about the things that USED TO appeal....I used to feel empty without dehydrated foods, and now I've decided I quite like vegetable pates.

EZrider, ive been raw since march and i now feel exactly like you do about liking foods in their simplest form, which is a shame as i love uncooking (and have a load of cookies and crackers i haven't been eating), but at lest it saves me time. my tastes have also changed, before i hated celery and would never ever touch the stuff, now i have to juice it every day, i just love it, and it doesn't stop at just celery. i was brought up by a fruit loving family and so have always loved fresh fruit and veg, but since being raw i've discovered fresh tamarind, custard apples, asian pears, dragon fruits, durian, sapodillas, longons... which i hadn't tasted before! i never seem to want any nuts now, just lots of bananas and avos - as they are.

lulushka8 -- Your raw food eating style and mine are as close as two peas in a pod. Without any conscious effort on my part I have evolved to the simple fresh raw food eating that both of our posts describes. This style of eating totally agrees with me and I am satisfied with it to the point of feeling in harmony with eating for the first time in my life. I would say we both deserve a pat on the back for listening to our body's signals and having the good sense to heed them. :)

I tried goji berries and cacao nibs

Try chewing them together, about 50/50 or slightly more goji than cacao. Yumski. :)
