I use to a long time ago and started back today.
I purchase the leaves at my local market and cut off some and peel and drop it in my blender with orange juice and banana or almond milk and banana.
It depends on how much aloe you drop in to how the taste is but it doesn't bother me:)
My hair use to be very thick and long and aloe vera is said to help the hair grow as well as help the entire body to heal and function well.

Thats an interesting idea and I know that aloe vera is good for a body. I am looking into this starting with this article at Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aloe_vera
Does anyone know what food combining group aloe vera is in ?

I love aloe. I have never drank it though. Today I went to the health food store for some aloe products and they has a 1 ounce jar of 84% aloe for 10.95.. 1 ounce wouldn't even cover much of my body. I can't believe the cost of pure aloe.

:D For us we can't get much better than that.
I put it on my hair and it makes it manageable and shiny and it helps my bowel move:)
I think i'll have another shot of that:D

I'd like to get some plants going at home. Although one person I knew commented it's very strong tasting and hard to get down. Wonder where I can buy plants.....

Since I live in AZ I was able to get more than I needed of aloe vera on freecycle. We have people giving them away regularly. Again I am fortunate because I just put the containers on the front and back porch and let them grow. I don't have to protect them from frost. Also on Craigslist freebies. In ethnic markets, especially Hispanic I see huge leaves called aloe vera that come from Mexico and they look like a different plant than what I have which is like the photo on the Wikipedia link. They still have gel in the middle but the leaf is shiny and a different type than the kind I get locally.
I have not noticed a difference from doing it. I just eat it raw after getting skin off. Most of it is not too bitter.

I'm so glad that our local mexican markets carry them.
How do you drink your aloe vera?
I mix mine with orange juice and a banana and almond or sesame milk and blend it up.
If it has the taste i put it in my freezer for about 15 min. and the taste becomes very mild:) and we really like it.
Can't wait to see my major hair growth:D

I used to get aloe leaves organic by the case by mail and scoop out the slippery pulp and blend with juice or water or just eat some with a spoon. Very good for flexibility in your body. Does anyone know of a source? The place I got mine from was in texas and requires now that you buy three cases, too much for me, I'm in oHio and the aloe plants we grow indoors wouldn't be big enough to use much, you could use a whole plant within a week, these are very large, about two feet long and keep pretty well in a cool place or in refrigerator wrapped in plain paper then plastic.
