Who's done it???
I was interested in doing Alissa's liver cleanse. I have some questions.
1. What is the lemon pith?? (is it the WHOLE inside of the lemon?)
2. This is probably a dumb question....is the apple juice fresh? If so, how many apples (approximately) does it take to make a pint, or a litre...seems like a TON of apples....
Thanks,
Wendi

I have recently completed my 15th liver cleanse over the last 12 months. There are several different protocols. I have used Dr. Hulda Clark's protocol which was very successful for me. Most of the time I used fresh grapefruit juice to mix with the olive oil instead of the lemon strictly because of taste. I have used lemon juice with the olive oil and got the same results so I think it is your preference unless, of course, you are using a different protocol. I cannot really answer your question about how many apples to use because I just juiced a bunch of them and drank it and a ton of water up until the point where you have to fast before drinking the grapefruit/lemon and olive oil concoction.

The pith is the white bitter tasting part under the peel.

It's been about a year for me but I did it twice with great results. I used Hulda Clark's recipe. It has been hard for me to stomach olive oil after doing this though and I can't use lemon juice and olive oil in the same recipe.

Forgot to answer the question about the apples. A bag of organic apples (3-4 lbs) will juice approx 1/4 to 1/2 half gallon of apple juice. You should add a little water as well so that might bring the volume up a bit. Don't strain it either.....you need the fiber when doing this cleanse.

some times farmers at farmers markets will sell you utility apples for juicing. Organic apple orchards usually have at least two grades the utility grade does not look pretty but their fine for juicing and less expensive.

Just finished it. And yes, a TON of apples. I agree with the olive oil sentiment, it gags me now just to think about it...hope that changes...

I have read a little about the liver cleanse. I was wondering how physically ill one gets afterwards? I.E.Nausea, Vomiting, Et Cetera? If so, how long does it usually last on an average person?

I never got sick during or afterwards. In fact, I always felt great after the liver cleanse.

Thanks ya'll! I think I need to do a cleanse....my eyes look alittle dark underneath, and I was reading that that was a sign that you needed to do a liver cleanse.....is that right?
