Kombucha and Hives?

I've been drinking Kombucha tea for the past three days and coincidentally yesterday I woke up with these red painful itchy bumps forming around my trunk area which seem to be muliplying. At first, i thought they were bug bites, but my dh does not have any bites. The only strange thing I have introduced in the past few days has been this tea.

Anyone else get hives when they drink this tea? I'm drinking the Synergy stuff. I'm also allergic to tetracycline and e-mycin - maybe I'm allergic to Kombucha too? Too bad if I am, i really like the stuff.

Or it is just bug bites? I did air out our duvet in the sun this past weekend. I could have brought in a critter who likes me more than my hubby??? :)

Do they have a site? Is is the GTs Kombucha? They have a site and you can ask them.

I will get bit when no-one else will. Now my son is like me so he gets bit too. We are just too sweet!

Well, since you're allergic to some antibiotics as well, and kombucha is a mass of microorganisms (that could be contaminated with molds), then I would suspect the tea.

Try not having it for a while and see if your hives go away. Then you'll have your answer.

It could also be a detox reaction brought on by the tea.... that's a tough call. Let us know what happens!

Hey, thanks justinesmith for reminding me about Richard Bach. I need to dig out my Bridge Across Forever and read it again. It's been about a decade since I read it and everytime I read it, I'm in a different stage of my life. Perhaps it will make me forget about the itchy situation I'm in!
