This absolutely has to be detox because for two days my body did not want to move. I did nothing, no dishes, no clothes, no bank, called in sick, was worried this was going to last for five days. I woke up this morning, worked out, felt great, made all my meetings and am about to fall asleep again. It seems that many of you have posted that you have gone through a serious detox where you got really sick. This was not it for me, but I am preparing for this as I know it's coming...which is a good thing.

I don't know I was also a little disappointed today in a new friend at work who is raw (very informed about it) and after admitting to her that I wanted cooked food today she said she ate something delicious and hot that was cooked. Honestly, I just kept thinking about my scale and how the weight finally seems to be flying off, as promised. I was having a bit of a hard time and came home tonite to read these posts...it helped me through today. Made sure I went to the market tonite because I knew if I didn't I would blow it. Thanks for listening.

dalimeindacoconut, Why not have some fake chocolate raw goodies with you to help you when you are weak? Just a thought.

Thanks for sharing!

Same thing happened to me! I was totally out of commission for two days, it was brutal.

This has been said a million times before, but it finally sunk in the other day. I find it a lot easier to to focus on my health rather than my weight. It's so easy to say "well this won't really affect my weight much", because a lot of SAD food really won't. When I say "this is not healthy for my body", it's so much harder to make excuses.

I totally agree. My husband is fully on board with all of this after having seen a video called EATING that was in the RAVE diet book we borrowed from a friend. It really was a wake up call about food in general. He is (was) a meat and potatoes man raised on a farm so this is monumental for him. And our focus is NOT on losing weight, though we need to. It is on eating healthy and being healthy and doing preventative maintenance and raising our 2 boys, ages 3 and 6 up to know the value of what they put inside themselves. Losing weight will just be a joyous benefit from a healthier lifestyle.

At this stage of the game, it has been an arduous process with the kids, especially the 3 year old! But the more we lead by example, the easier it will be for them to follow our lead. I haven't fully switched them to raw yet, just cooked vegetarian, which is a big change for them in and of itself. But baby steps are needed sometimes so as to not cause an all out revolt!!! haha Each week there is less and less of the 'old' stuff available to them to choose from.

I don't know I was also a little disappointed today in a new friend at work who is raw (very informed about it) and after admitting to her that I wanted cooked food today she said she ate something delicious and hot that was cooked. It sounds like she's feeling good about eating cooked food. My guess is that she will continue to increase her % of cooked food and decrease her % of raw food as she indulges her pursuit of "something delicious and hot". Being on the receiving end of the raw food lifestyles benefits of a healthy body and mind are not achieved by being informed (but it sure helps) but rather by making a decision and then being committed to that decision.

This is my 3rd time hearing about "super candy" today. Never heard of it before in my life! What is it and where can I get it?

Well, this is a very difficult diet to stay on 100%... if you decide to indulge in cooked, this is what i do...

Once a week I treat myself to either steamed veggies, a baked potatoe or sweet potato (topped with either organic cold pressed olive oil or coconut oil). I have no ill reaction from eating these, and I have not gained any weight back. In my opinion, if you are 70%, 80%, or 90% raw, you are still doing your body a world of good, and eating better than 99.9% of the population.

I would rather see you eating some steamed veggies each week, then to be driving yourself crazy trying to stay 100% raw. The stress of that cannot be good. A baked potato for me is heaven. I've been doing the raw thing for 18 months now and find it difficult to stay 100% at all times, so I treat myself to something cooked that is healthy... and I don't feel guilty about it at all.

Personally, I feel you get more sick by going off raw instead of sticking with it. Since going back to SAD I have been having terrible headaches and mood swings. Just a thought...

Hi Portia,

When you say you went back to the SAD, what exactly are you eating? RU still trying to stay partially raw and have a healthy cooked meal occassionally?

Just wondering what is giving you the ill effects, how long you've been raw and when you went back to SAD, and why....

It's a hard diet to stay on, I struggle too. but what seems to help me stay on the path is treating myself to steamed veggies or something else healthy once a week.

Ta,
