In 2006 I ate raw for 3 months. Made the mistake of thinking that I was craving protein. Gave in to that craving and started eating cooked chicken. What with starting a new job and the stress on a steady incline each month I kept eating cooked foods and got totally away from raw. Over the past 3 years I had lost 85 lbs on the GI Diet and in the past 5 months I have regained 20 pounds. Last week on Wednesday I went grocery shopping and had bought all these wonderful organic vegies. I had started feeling so bad that I had been thinking about raw and by Wednesday night I decided to go back to raw. I am now on my 6th day of raw....YAY. Feel soooo much better.
I am lucky that I had previously bought Alissa's book as well as another raw book so this time I was prepared with recipes to start out with. Also in a town about 45 minutes from me a Raw place just opened up. They aren't very big but at least I have some place to purchase raw food when we go there. On Saturday while there my husband wanted Quisnos Subs so I stopped into the raw place and got a raw pizza to go and while he had his sub I had my pizza. I also bought a portion of spaghetti for dinner that night. It was yummy!! I'm thinking that when I go into town later this week I may purchase a few single portions of food and bring home for dinners. DH is non-raw except for the deserts (of course).
Sorry to ramble on but I'm so excited to chat to people who are raw as I don't know anyone else that does it. I do have a problem with dinners as so far things I've made aren't up to my taste. I've got some burgers going right now (along with some chocolate turtles....hehe).
I know that since I've found this forum I'm not going to have as much problem as I did before.
Thanks for being here!!

ALOHA and WELCOME to RFT!!! Sounds like you've got a good solid start going .... Glad to see that you have Alissas book!! There are some really AMAZING recipes in her book that so easy to prepare, a lot of fun to prepare... and taste fantastic! I've been experimenting with so many recipes in her book -- and I'm having a blast! I'm sure your dh would loove lots of the dessert recipes in there too....

it's great to have you joining us! RAWK ON!!
