Hello there,

I am 32 and have been battling junk food eating/cravings my whole life. I'm about 40 lbs overweight and LOW Low low,,, on energy. Since childhood I've battled fatigue/allergies/depression/headaches and chronic fatigue. I've been to the doctor at least a dozen times or more.

I am at a breaking point in my life now.. I call in sick about once a week (running out of sick and vacation days quick) and avoid every one and every thing like the plague. I have become a hermit.

So, over the years doctors just say I am depressed and prescribe anti depressants.. Well, they do work at first and then slowly wear off and my mgs are upped.. And I am so sick and tired of that..

Most all natural remedy sites say the same thing = balanced diet and exercise. Ive tried both over the years.
As far as exercising, I do fine for a few weeks and then a mental or physical illness stops me in my tracks for a couple of weeks and then I just kinda fall out of the routine.
And food, I do okay staying off the fast food and candy for a few days and then I just slowly fall off for any number of no-self control reasons.

I think I have finally found the best way to diet/live and that is RAW.
I have recently read a few books on it love the logic and simplicity of how it works.. I have also found a few good web sites like this one that should keep me motivated.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Where I am today:
I am on my 8th day of about 90% raw.
All fruit in the morning till noon. Salads and nuts for lunch.
Veriety of raw and cooked vegs for dinner ( will hopefully be able to stop the veg cooking in a couple of weeks).

The good news:
- I've lost about 5 lbs.
- The food is tasting better and better each day.
- My allergies are all but gone.

The could be better news:
- Junk food cravings are still strong, the strongest at lunch, though getting better.
- Mentally I am still about the same with terrible headaches and lethargic.
- No BM since I've started (8 days now.. This one is my biggest concern.. I'm eating tons of fiber, I don't understand)

Does any one have any advice?
AND.
How long does the detox period last?
Is no BM for 8 days normal? I don't even feel like I need to go:confused:

I'm in this for the long run to feel and look better.
Thanks for reading..

Welcome! I don't think it would be considered normal to not have a BM in 8 days. I would HIGHLY recommend Alissa's enzymes or some other form of digestive enzymes ASAP.

After reading your post, I felt like i could've written it myself. I feel where you are coming from. This website has been a MONSTER help to me, in fact, I don't know where I'd be in my journey without it. Everyone here is so willing to help ~ I hope you find what you need to stay strong. Keep us all in the loop ~K?? :D

IMO, getting to 100% raw is the best thing a person can do to make this work. Sign up for the monthly challenge (you can start mid month) and try to get all raw because trying to straddle the fence just causes cravings to linger on longer. If you can make about 3 weeks all raw cravings etc diminish noticeably. Have a good raw journey.

Here's a couple of threads here on RFT that you can check out for information:

Wow, I just read my entry about starting raw. Basically I am still eating 90% raw with 10% steamed vegies and some cooked lean meat (I'm working on cutting this out now). Have become a fruit addict, borderline fruititarian :D And loving salads.. My junk food cravings are all but gone. Though I still could not pass up a home made chocalate chip cookie offered to me yesterday. About 2 minutes after I ate it I had a huge headache. I wont be doing that again any time soon..

The reason I started this lifestyle was being low energy, depression, headaches, etc.. Now at 4 weeks in and I have WAY more energy (my house never looked so clean)..
And September and October are my worst months for allergies, I sneezed ONCE last week (that is incredible for me, I used to sleep with a breathing mask to keep me from waking up in the middle of the night with a sneeze attacks, Truly Amazing)!!..
Headaches - still slighty there but 80% better, again AMAZING.
Anxiety/depression - still slighty there but 80% better, again AMAZING. My headaches and depression have always gone hand in hand..

In case any one is curious,, my BMs are regular now also.. The day I posted this I had some Smooth Move Tea for a couple of nights in a row. Was like popping a cork:eek: Has been all good since..

Well, Im loving raw and loving this site and you guys for helping me get through the first couple of rough weeks.

Hey Ben--glad to hear all is going so well. Isn't it amazing how in the beginning this lifestyle seems like the tallest mountain and we're convinced there's absolutely no way we'll be able to climb it? Good for you for going back and reading your original post. It helps put it all into perspective, right? Hope you feel like continuing this journey--sounds like it's doing wonders for your mind and body. I know it is for mine. We're all here for support.
