Yesterday at the farmer's market I saw organic almonds for 11.00/lb. and another stand selling them for 6.00/lb. so I began asking the grower some questions regarding his methods.

He swore he didn't pasteurize or steam them in any way, but did admit to using a fungicide for mold. He didn't know the name of it but said it was "perfectly safe". I tried googling this but didn't get anywhere. Any thoughts on this (I bought them :eek: )?

My thought? Ew.

I think I would prefer the pasteurization to the fungicide, but that's just me.

I would be concerned that he didn't know what he was using..... I'd think that if he's going to sell something, and be present when it is being sold, then he'd know all his facts and what he uses to answer such questions....

One could potentially lose buyers if one does not know what one uses in a product right?
