I am concerned about visiting my brother who lives half way across the state. When I go there they have a dinner feast of cooked foods. They don't even have salad - everythings cooked. My concern is that I have read quite a few posts about raw fooders who ate a meal of cooked foods after being "clean" of the cooked food addiction and then got sick. I sure don't want to get sick ! What do I do show up with a couple of avocados in my pocket ? I'm still trying to figure this thing out ?

Can you suggest and offer to make a huge salad and or fruit salad for the dinner for everyone and just take large servings of that? Either bring if with you or see if they can provide ingredients and you make it there?

Can you suggest and offer to make a huge salad Thats a good idea. My next visit over there will be thanksgiving so maybe I could take a large salad with me and add it to the dinner menu for everyone who wants salad (like me). Thanks. :)

Yes, why not bring a salad (or other raw dish) for everyone to enjoy? I know that my extended family gets into ruts. The family gatherings offer the same kinds of fare, over and over (mostly cooked, although we do eat salads). I remember one year, though, when my sister and I made a big batch of sushi rolls. I can't remember ever seeing anything like that in the spread before. But at the end of the evening they were ALL GONE. When faced with a new type of food, you don't know how people are going to react. They might hate it, but they might embrace it. It doesn't hurt to try! (And if nobody else eats what you bring... well, that's just more for you!) :)
