Hi all,

I am 34 and from the Chicago area. I found this site/new way of eating when my husband's co-worker saw his diabetes medication on his desk and gave him a 10 minute sales pitch on the raw way of eating. After about five minutes of research he found Alissa's site and I ordered the book. This was last week. This week I am buying cookbooks and appliances. =)

I am currently almost 300lbs and suffering from many heath inconveniences. I have to admit as a meat, pasta and everything bad for you lifestyle I am a bit scared of this new way of living but hopeful that this way of living will make my life much much easier.

I absolutely look forward to learning more about this way of living and to making the transition to raw foods. :D

Welcome to the board, raw is great.

You might be interested in checking out your local Raw Food meetups, I know there are several in Chicago.

You will love Rawfoodtalk.com, there are a lot of great people and lots of info. Alissa's book is great.

Welcome and good for you. I am a newbie and weight is a big issue for me but most importantly finally being free...this way of eating releases depression and physical cravings. Do not beat yourself if you slip, I did a few times which made me learn a deeper lesson and now I am doing well at 100% raw.
I feel great as I continue this journey. It is work from within but sooooooo worth it.
Best of luck, I read so much here that helps me from others and Allissa's book is the best. I listened to the DVD yesterday for the 3rd time - always helpful !
