I'm not exactly raw, but trying to incorporate more raw into my diet.

Well, part of that is trying new smoothies/juices/etc. I've never been able to tolerate orange juice with any pulp in it, and only the smoothest smoothies. Even yogurt with chunks in it I have a problem with. I have some carrot/mango juice from the store, and it has a bit of pulp in it, and I'm amazed that I can drink 1/2 cup of that at a time. I just am not used to having solid in my liquid. Anyone else like this before they went raw? I have a feeling that just having them more often will help me adjust, but it's so hard to even start with something like this.

And then there's tastes. The smoothies I have had are typically fruit. When you have a green smoothie... it tastes funny.

I think I was stuck in a rut before. Now, having gone vegetarian (6 months ago) and now trying to be more vegan/raw, I'm forced to try new things, and it's hard. I'm definitely more open to new foods than I was half a year ago, but nowhere near where I want to be. Any tips for easing that adjustment?

i would say get a good raw recipe book. alissa's is the only real recipe book that i have and its great. you can make a lot of stuff that really resembles cooked food. also, just as far as raw stuff tasting good, your body will get used to it the more you eat. try to eat more salad and green smoothies. just start off with a handful of spinach and blend until smooth (give it a couple minutes if you need). the more raw you eat, the more you will want it.

I agree with rawsurfer...the longer you're raw, the more you'll get used to the different tastes and textures of everything. As for the green smoothies, start small.....use mostly fruit and week by week (or whatever you're comfortable with) add more and more greens.....I think rawsurfer suggested a handful of spinach to start.......I think you'll find this way, your tastebuds assimilate to the "green" taste without REALLY tasting the "green", if that makes any sense! Ani Phyo's is a good book to have along with Alissa's....it's purely recipes, and a lot are simple, don't require a dehydrator, and taste good too! (I swear I don't work for her...I recommend her book so much because it's good!) As for the texture thing.....I can't help you with that, I likes my pulp!
