I have been nut-intolerant in the past. My heart would really race when I ate them (peanuts were the worst... I'd even get weird heart palpitations). I haven't eaten a lot of nuts recently... just mostly what's in Larabars. I'm kind of afraid to try eating them on their own.

Most food intolerances...well, I should say intolerances to NATURAL, plant-based foods, really aren't the foods themselves causing the problems but rather, something underlying going on within the body.

My daughter was intolerant to nuts and certain fruits at one time when she was very toxic (due to my poor diet when pregnant and nursing as well as hers once she was eating solid foods). What you may need/want to do is to cut back on or eliminate the offending food just for a time until you get your system cleaned out thoroughly. There could be some bowel cleansing/healing that you need to do first. THEN, you can try reintroducing the nuts back into your diet. Also, are you soaking the nuts first or just eating them straight out of the bag? If you are not soaking, try that as well. But it sounds like your body may be trying to do some internal cleansing and healing and that nuts at THIS time (not to say that you'll never, ever be able to eat them again) may be affecting what your body is trying to do.

I get bloated and heavy when I eat nuts too. I'm just staying away from them for now, like Rawkin suggested.
