It's fall & I am a happy little bee! All the great foods that are in season now: cranberries, apples, pears, pumpkins, figs & POMEGRANATES!!!! I can't help myself when I go to the grocery store now, 'cause there's always someting new & yummy calling to me. ::sigh:: I love going grocery shopping! It's such an adventure these days; I'm never quite sure what I might find! ;)

I love pomegrantes too.

I think I was 5 years old when I heard the story of Persephone in school and when I went home I surprised my father enormously by asking for a pomegranate. He duly bought me one and I've been hooked ever since!

cut in half and use a citrus juicer -- so I've been told -- but I would have thought the seeds go everywhere!

Yeah for poms! I have a friend that lives about 30 minutes from me, and I mail her poms, because she can't find them in her area. She goes through a pom a day, at least. I've never seen anyone eat a pom so delicately! Hahaha :D It's very cute how much she loves them.

Yah, how do you juice a pom? I guess blending it is out! The flavor is so gooood!

oh and i got some fresh cranberries.....and even though they're sour- i love them! sometimes i eat them just like that or put them in smoothies! wow, the raw journey is like one little revelation after another

I had a persimmon once & it made my teeth feel funny! I haven't had one since. Maybe I need to give them another try when I see them in the stores around here again. My mom loved them when she was little. She's from Alabama & they had a persimmon tree in her yard & she used to sit under the tree & eat them by the boatloads! :D

Pomegranates, though.... I can down poms in no time flat & I'm certainly NOT a delicate eater! :D :D My middle son has inherited my love of them from me, so now there are 2 of us snarfing them down whenever we can get a hand on them!

Yeah, I wonder how to juice them? It'd have to be something where the juice is collected without the seeds getting in. Maybe put a bunch of the jewels in a bowl, sqash them until they're all juicy & strain them to get the seeds out???

I encourage you to give them another chance :D when they're not ripe enough, they do give you this weeeeeird feeling in the mouth. But when they're ripe.....ooooh my

Oh gosh, when you eat an unripe persimmon - i've heard it's horrible!!

Pom's are so good, me and my bf could probly eat 15 by ourselves :)
i'm so glad they're in season.
WHAT DO I DO WITH PUMPKINS? without a dehydrator?

You could make pumpkin pudding (pie filling without the crust) or maybe pumpkin "rice" or pasta. Or marinate them in chunks or wedges or slices & pour a dressing or sauce - sweet or not depending on your needs of the moment - of some kind over them; no dehydrator necessary! :)

That is my current thought - the persimmon wasn't ripe at the time. I'll give it another go when I see them. That's my pattern now: try one new fruit or veggie (or both) every week or so. This way I give my body options, keep a wide range of foods in my diet & don't fall into any ruts. When my body has a need for something in particular, it can ask for a specific food by way of cravings to fill the need. I like having options! :D
