Well, I have been raw for 3 1/2 months, with a little cooked every once in a while, and this is what I have noticed after eating cooked food

these symptoms happen immediately after eating cooked food

1. bloating
2. gas
3. belching
4. frequent urination
5. insomnia
6. heart palpatations
7. dry mouth
8. funny taste in mouth
9. runny eyes
10. itching inside my ears
11. closed throat
12. my voice changes
13. constipation
14. temper
15. restlessness
16. muscle aches
17. blurred vision
18. runny nose
19. itchy scalp
20. ringing in ears
21. hyper sensitivity to temperature
22. feels like bugs crawling all over my skin
23. under arm odor
24. vaginal discharge
25. cloudy urine
26. bad breath
27. obsessive hunger
28. excessive thirst
29. brick in my stomach
30. depression (may be psychological or physical but who cares where it's coming from)

Just thought you might like to know that eating cooked (FOR ME) brings back all those familiar ailments that I so lovingly tossed aside, when I went RAW.

And I didn't eat a steak either, I ate a lightly steamed vegetables, and 3 pieces of tempura fried veggies, and a bowl of white rice, with teriyaki sauce, and only a spoonful.

So, it just goes to show you, how MY system reacts to eating even one small meal cooked.

As, I sit here looking at my list, I realize that it may seem that I was sitting in the restaurant with all of this going on, gas, belching, discharge, actually, made me laugh right out loud.

Reminds me of the airplane (funny) movie, where the captain, has all these ailments after eating fish, it was hilarious.

But, it is now almost 24 hours after eating this, and all of these things have come to pass.

Just thought I would clarify this experience, we went to a play later, thank god/dess it waited to start some of the more embarassing moments until I got home. LOL

anyway, woke up this morning to a client's call, at 11:15 am, and felt terrible, didn't get to sleep until 6am this morning, so I had insomnia, then couldn't wake up, then then then, sheeshe, I'm gonna' go eat something RAW.

I'll bet the tempura played a huge part in it. Not only is it deep fried, but commonly they use an egg yolk with the rice flour for the batter (I saw this on the food network, where they taped a Japanese chef showing how he made it). There's a lot of mucus production right there.

I hope you feel better now.

Raw Truth, you crack me up, I laughed so hard, that Dragggon had to come see what I was chuckling at, and then he chuckled too.

yes, i am feeling better, thanks for your support, and concern.

I will be remembering this when ever I am out to dinner with friends.

its' always good to be a source of amusement for your friends, I'm glad I gave you guys a lift. LOL

I must admit, that it was pretty funny when I look back on it myself.

well, on to eating better, and feeling better. AND being better.

Same here. I ate some cooked last week, and I got a lot of those symptoms too. Not all of them, but a lot of them. The insomnia was the worst, and it took one solid week for my sleep to re-regulate itself.

When I first went raw and ate something cooked I would get many of those same symptoms...but dangit, I ate some chicken strips over the weekend and felt just fine......how am I supposed to get turned off from them when they don't impact me....

I can't believe I'm sitting here saying I wanted gas and belching!!! Would have been an interesting 200 mile drive home!!

Oh my does this hit home for me tonight! I eat a very high raw diet with the addition of steamed veggies and the occasional raw vegan (light!) meal. I feel great all the time especially on my 100% days.

Well, I will thank my raging PMS cravings which are so strong each month I can't believe it, turns me into a "food monster" and no one had better get in my way as I head into the kitchen, they might lose an arm!

But I will be back on track in the morning (or actually I am right now drinking some fresh orange juice) as I feel awful! I went to lunch today and ate stuff I'd not eaten in many months?! The wheat from the bread and pasta almost immediately had me bent over with intestinal cramps and it has not let up at all yet and here it is almost bedtime.

The other symptoms of this vegan cooked meal include so many that Rawpriestess mentioned... bloating and belching (hubby is having fun with the belching?!), I feel so full and like there is a brick in my tummy or better yet in my rib cage, shooting pains radiating throughout my abdominal region, grumpy (poor hubby!), very runny nose, and just can't believe the pain in my rib cage area. I've been through this before (too many times from bad food choices) and usually only dairy creates this much discomfort but I've found that wheat also does it and wow this proves that.

So... have I again learned my lesson??? I hope so! Sweet hubby went to the store for me and bought 2 large bags of organic oranges and grapefruit so I can continue juicing tomorrow and clean this out of my system.

I don't mind having these experiences if I really take it to heart and learn from it, cooked food is very addictive and I am beginning to realize just how much it really is. The taste, smell, and memories attached to it. I doubted this concept for a very long time but I am really coming around to believing it over the past 6 months.

Onward to a better day tomorrow and gaining control over monthly cravings... if anyone has any ideas that has helped them on this I'd love to hear from you!

Yes, although it could have been the steamed veggies, my thought is like many of you, that the tempura batter, wheat and egg is probably what caused most of this, maybe the starchy rice too.

I have a wheat intollerance and that is the one thing I have missed the most, and yet when I eat just a little bit, boy, does it cause intestinal problems.

if anyone has any ideas that has helped them on this I'd love to hear from you!

What are your cravings usually for? If they are for sweet things, then mark your calendar a week before your cycle starts and make up some sweet, raw treats. Have them ready BEFORE your cravings hit you. Bc if you're like me, when those cravings hit they come on so strong and you can't even think straight. You just have to satisfy them RIGHT NOW.

If it's for heavy-ish food, make sure you have some heavy-ish food in the house: crackers or bread for sandwiches, nutty dishes, guacamole, etc.

If your cravings are for salt, then have some dehydrated salty snacks around.

The thing is, to be prepared beforehand.

Also, I've heard that drinking green juices helps prevent cravings. Haven't tried this though so I can't speak from experience.
