Lose weight the day after I take a larger amount of fat than usual (for me it's olives)?

Can someone break it down for me, and also tell me their experience please!

I'm on day 10 all raw, and YES, 100 percent IS different! I was doing like 90 percent and a few days 70 percent and now I am 100 percent, and there is a big difference in clarity, how my body feels, etc.

I'm not sure of the scientific, biological breakdown of the why's and wherefores and all that... but I do know that for some of us - we need a hi (healthy fat - like coconut oil) intake to lose weight. If I don't have the intake of healthy fats - my weight plateaus - it stays perfectly still - doesn't move one way or the other... stuck....

but when I up my intake of coconut oil.... ziiip... the weight begins to move again - I break thru my plateaus and start losing weight.

Now this doesn't work for everyone -- for some people - if they up their fat content - they gain weight -- so....
I think it comes down to listening to our bodies ... learning what works for each of us and going from there...
now...

I'm going to sit here patiently http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/ongeduld.gif while some more knowledgeable rawbie comes along and teaches us both -- why this happens!! RAWK ON RAWBIE... :D

Oh... I just remembered I had saved this to my computer just for this very reason!!! So -- let me share it with you -- Samariah posted this...

okay, coconut oil can help with weight loss. i would say you have to be taking more than 1 tsp a day though, more like 3-4 tbsp. you would also have to be subsituting the coconut oil for other fats in the diet. the reason coconut oil is reputed for weight loss is bc the medium chain triglyercides in coconut oil are converted immediatley into energy for your body to use. unlike other fats, coconut oil isn't stored as fat nor does it circulate throughout your body. coconut oil also helps raise the metabolism and is said to be good for people with thyroid issues. i personally find it very satiating and the more coconut/oil i consume the less i eat in general, the more energized/well i feel as well. its also absolutely amazing for your skin taken internally an externally. do some research on it, there is loads out there. you need to use it correctly if you want weight loss, it CAN be a very helpful tool.

Starfire, how do you eat the coconut oil--in recipes or in salad dressings or...?
Thanks!

I think it just has to do with each individual. I'm taking a nutrition course, and according to science, all fats/proteins/carbs are converted to fat in the body if they are eaten in excess of caloric need. So I don't buy the "medium chain triglyceride" thing.

Yeah, they may be converted to energy faster than other fats digestion-wise, but if you eat too many calories, your body stores it. Some people just have efficient systems that "throw off" excess energy as heat, and others, like myself, don't.

Eat the fats if you can, and ENJOY them, for my sake! <3

rainbow girl,

Are you eating only olives?

Are they raw?

smilingrawdancer-I agree. I'm the same way. I used to eat a lot of coconut oil but I was eating cooked food then. I stopped the coconut oil which greatly reduced my caloric intake and I found it was much easier to lose weight. For some people, they need the extra lipase enzymes in the coconut oil and other raw fats to be able to release stored fats.

No, I'm not some strangeoid eating only olives, lol!!!

I eat a pretty varied diet, but it seems that when I maw olives (yeah, raw, packed in olive oil), I often find those next mornings I wake up with a weight loss.

Now it may be totally coinicdental, but I only do this once a week (those good raw olives ain't cheap), and this has been happening specifically on this day.

Just wondered if the olives plus olive oil were why.

Now if I eat a ton of nuts, I gain weight(i just hide them now and don't snack openly on them).

But olives seem to be different.

I guess you gotta feel this one out on your own, individually.

Just always surprised. See I used to be on a vegan NO fat diet (not low, but NO), and had no weight loss, but felt good.

Now I have weight loss and feel GREAT!@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and I can eat my olives (except between my 2 year old and me, we ate them all!)
