Found this recipe in Well Being, a book by Naturopathica founder, Barbara Close. Looks like a gentle version of the master cleanse. She suggests doing it one day per month. Lime juice is used because “bitter herbs help to stimulate sluggish digestion.” Rawbies can substitute agave nectar or raw honey for the maple syrup.

Cleansing Tonic
Half-gallon (64oz) of purified water
1 C maple syrup
1 C lime juice
1 t cayenne

Place all ingredients in a container. Cover and shake well. Drink 8oz of tonic followed by 8oz of water, six to eight times during the day.

She cautions: Don’t ingest cayenne if you suffer from gastrointestinal problems (ulcers, stomach acide). Discontinue if you feel dizzy, lightheaded or nauseated.

I've always wanted to try the m/c. I think I might give this one a go though.
Have you tried it?

Did I imagine this or does anyone remeber reading that lemons are alkaline and limes acidic? Does it matter?

I plan to do it when I am off during Christmas week. How about you?

Is this for a whole week or just a day or two? I'm doing the liver cleanse right now (part 2 day 4) So we'll see how that turns out. But I'd say probably before the holidays hit full swing. And then...probably after...in the new year. You know, start things off right. SUBU, I don't know? I hadn't heard that. I use to LOVE margaritas...so that makes sense. LOL

Nope, I'm nuts! They're both alkalinizing.

She recommends one day per month, which is much more my speed! Let me know when you're going to do it, I could do it at the same time (preferably a weekend).

well the only difference between that and the m/c is the lime instead of lemon.

i wonder how it's more gentle?

Another important difference: the Master Cleanse employs two kinds of laxatives (salt water and [senna] tea), while this one doesn't. So, no running to the bathroom!

OK, I just "bellied-up" to the MC bar......I NEED TO DO THIS! Since it's MONDAY, why not! My stomach is pleasantly warm at the moment+ it tasted better than I expected.....I think I can I think I can.....anyone else doing it today? I'll see how 1 day goes.....Does anyone do 1 day per week or anything similar?
