My thoat starting getting sore and then my gums starting getting real puffy and swollen, then my jaws tightened up where i could barely open my mouth:) it was hard to get my tiny red tomatoes in there:)
Chewing was a horror, i have never felt like this, now this was two days ago and finally i can put my teeth together without pain and i can almost get my jaws open to eat almost anything i want:)
I've had rashes all over my body and dizzy spells so bad that i thought i would past out and never come back and weakness to the point that i couldn't get off the sofa but this one took the CAKE:) My lips started swelling but they went back down, that was nice.
I know toxens can lodge in all parts of the body and it is a good thing when they come out but going through it is something else.

Fiber helps pick up toxins and get them out where they should be coming out of: your colon. Try alot of green smoothies!

Have been cranking the wheatgrass and green smoothies to help out.. Also realised am not drinking enough water either. Gone from 3L to 1L a day...upped my water intake today and felt marginally better. ((((((HUGS)))))) feel better soon. xoxoxo

These symptoms sound similar to mine, not so severe, but one night I could not sleep I was in so much pain. I've never had an issue with any part of my mouth, but then I realized everything I eat goes into my mouth so it would be a logical place for me to detox. Last couple of days I have this irritating twitch in my cheek. Lip swelling is something I use to get when I was SAD on avocados and always thought I was allergic ,same thing with spinach, but now I eat both everyday. For me I think it was the fertilization they were grown in...not exactly sure, but don't have those symptoms anymore with either one of these foods, but yeah, I can relate to the mouth detox...very strange experience.

Oh and a colonic or two as suggested by several others on this board will help alleviate toxins. I ran to get one as I did not want to experience anymore pain like that. It helped.

I think I have been so lucky. I've hardly had any detox symptoms so far. Just a bit of a headache in the first week. I hope I don't get a late detox shock :o

My detox came after about a month and half of being 100% raw. The first month and a half was pure bliss but then I got so sick I couldn't keep food or liquid in my body. It was just flushing out. I was experiencing flu like symptoms so bad that I went to the hospital in fear that if it got any worse I could be in some big trouble. I felt near death. They gave me a shot medication for stomach spazms ( i was too ill to have any say in the matter) and I had an immeadiate allergic reaction to it and broke out in hives and a rash and my eyes and face went beet red. The doc couldn't figure out why this was happening because that medication wasn't known to cause allergic reactions. He blamed the symptoms on the "flu" that I had. It was a toxin and my body treated it as such because it was in the middle of detoxifying.

It's amazing how powerfull the body can be once it is no longer burdend by toxic substances. We must go through some pain and suffering in order to rid our bodies of the poisons that we subject it to for our whole lives up untill that point. It's definitly worth it once it is over and you get a whole new body to live and play in.

my detox came with the flu and the "mouth detox" 6 months after going raw, right after i gave up chewing gum (used to have half stick/day) and caffeine (used to have occasional green tea) and cutting down on condiments like braggs and unpast miso which aren't purely raw. i'm really worried about the cacao i eat since i've heard from posts in other forums that it's not really raw, is highly addictive, and toxic. ...recently i've been so tired and run down, and my face is so puffy, the dark circles under my eyes aren't improving...

Don't forget that things like Yoga, exercise, massage, oilpulling, and skin brushing can all help speed up the detox you're going through. I even sit in an infrared sauna to "sweat it all out".

Detoxing is strange, so many different symptoms but the end result is worth it all.
Hope everyone is feeling better and ready to go forward:D i know i am.

Sorry to hear that you are ill. To me, that sounds like it might be an allergic reaction. I had something very similiar earlier this year and it was horrible so I really feel for you. Have you added new ingredients to your diet?

I started a 'detox diet' in January (I didn't know about raw then) and changed from using cow's milk to goat's milk on the advise it was healthier (ha!). I felt shivery, red and bloated and put it down to detox. My face started swelling up, slowly over a few days so I didn't realise how bad it had got for a while - like yours so tight it was difficult to speak. I had red rashes all over my body and my skin was dry, hot and flakey. I was freezing cold and felt terrible.

I know now that it was an allergic reaction to the goat's milk, however because I thought it was detox symptoms I didn't do anything about it until I got sent home from work!

In my opinion, if you are red and swollen then you are having an allergic reaction to something. My doctor prescribed antihistamine and steroid creams (which I didn't take). Instead I fasted for 4 days on warm water and saw my healer. It took a few weeks to fully recover.

Often when going raw we introduce a load of new foods into our system. I have found I have allergic reactions now to cashews which had never been a problem before. The body can have allergic reactions to all kinds of innocent ingredients (I know someone who is allergic to apples and cucumbers) so if you have suddenly changed diet it is possible that you have a problem with these ingredients.

Can you think of anything you have started eating that you haven't eaten much of before?

I feel much better, i can eat now and my jaws don't hurt.
There is still a little soreness but nothing like before:)
I started rinshing my mouth out with oregano oil and i have been using some goldenseal tea and the soreness is going away.
I'm glad to move on to see what tomorrow will bring:)
