Do you add things to your smoothies for nutrition?
For example, I bought Alissa's green powder and have been adding a teaspoon of that to my morning smoothies for the past few days. Makes 'em look totally unappetizing, but to my taste buds it's still strawberries and bananas... :)
Does anyone add flax seed oil? Or...anything? Do you find that adding a supplement like this makes your smoothies more filling?

I try to change around any supplements I use frequently. I also use Aliss'a powder (great stuff) but I usually have one week on one week off with it. I am used to the taste now but I find it is good if sometimes my juices/smoothies are a little bitter coz then I drink them slower!

I change it up, but I use coconut butter/oil, cacao powder, hemp seeds or hemp powder, Nature's First Food (which is a greens powder), maca, bee pollen...yikes! haha I don't ever put all of them together by the way, that would taste pretty interesting...

I add hemp protein, coconut oil and sometimes maca. The first two for my blood sugar (definitely notice a difference if I don't - too much sugar high!) I use maca for adrenals, but ran out ~ but thats not something where you'll see an immediate difference like the protein or coconut + if you add too much it defiitely has a strong flavor.

Thanks guys! I like the suggestion to switch it up - maybe I'll do green powder one day, hemp or something else the next...I'll try to stop by a HFS on my way home today and read all the bottles they have there.
I understand the idea of having your smoothies contain only fruits and veggies - I'm not confident, though, that I can spend the time sitting and chewing that would be required to really get everything I need. And my blender's just a little dinky one. Adding spoonfuls of this and that to smoothies seems like a good way to get more nutrition.
I'm up at 5:30am every morning and always eat an apple while I'm fixing the dogs their breakfast, (they're raw too. :D ) My GS is usually a banana and either strawberries or blueberries then I add MSM, Spirulina, Hemp Powder, Cacao Powder, 1 tbsp of coconut butter, a handful of spinach and about 4-6oz of ice cold water (i don't like it too thick) and most days this will keep me running until noon or 1pm. Sometimes I add maca but not always. I definitely look forward to this every morning....I hope I can maintain the desire for this when the cold winter mornings hit.
