Hey I'm wondering if anyone else has this challenge ... typically in my life I've been a great sleeper, never had a problem with it ... however each time I've gone raw I have a heck of a time getting to sleep and staying asleep - sometimes I am in an almost-but-not-quite-sleeping-state. Tonight I've slept for maybe an hour and I am wide awake - and even a bit wired ... its only been 9 days raw for me (this time 100% no cheats) ... and already I am having trouble summoning the sandman ... its weird I am awake, but also tired ... any advice? Have you experienced this? I hope I am not a total freak show I can just see it now step right up take a peek at "the girl who never sleeps"

yes this happened to me for the first week or so. i was tired during the day, not sleepy...just sluggish but i would also have insomnia! horrible nightmares too. i think it's detox and just the change in your body...but i DO feel like i need less sleep now than i did before raw.

Hi there, when I go high raw after slipping I have problems sleeping & wierd dreams. I also feel wired at times, with extreme bursts of mega happiness thrown in for good measure LOL. after a couple of days 100% raw I can usually be found dancing in my kitchen to loud music whilst being really creative with raw recipes. it does calm down after awhile but I see the extra energy as my body having a celebration cos she is finally getting the nutrients she needs. Cutting out any superfood powders like maca or lacuma may also help reduve the wired feeling. HTH

I have the not sleeping through the night problem. Which I never had before going raw. I am not 100% raw. I really want to be, but it is just not happening right now. I do sometimes have really vivid dreams since eating raw. You think it is because of eating cooked foods? I will have to pay more attention and see if this is true. I also feel overstuffed and uncomfortable when I eat more than a bite or two of cooked food. Why I still eat cooked I don't know.

bumping this up again, just to see if anyone else has any experience or input - this is night 2 of being pretty wide awake when its sleepy time ... I know, this really should be my worst challenge - I feel very fortunate, still if there is something I can learn from another's experience that too would be nice!

Hannah,
I am having a very similar problem. I am tired and sleepy and I lay in bed and cannot fall asleep. I feel like I had caffiene but I have not had caffiene in years. I do have A LOT more energy now b/c of raw foods. I asked a friend tonight if she had ever gone through this and she said yes that it was my body detoxing. Lack of sleep due to detoxing is fine by me because it is one step closer to health. I am glad that I am not alone.
Sweet Dreams,
RW

I found that when I first did raw I woke up earlier... I always was able to sleep through the night.. until recently. I think I have too much on my mind before bed and I go to bed with worries about stuff. I have been having really awful brutal nightmares lately.. I actually woke up touching a set of dainty fingers dangling from my head board and panicked and I sat up and looked at my spouse who was laying on his side facing away from me and I looked at my hands and I left the room.. I don't even want to know what it was I saw!

RawWealth, thank you for sharing your experience (and lending your friend's as well) its good to know that the body has many different methods of eliminating junk - and also that some junk may be less tangible or harbor unanticipated effects ... hope that your zzzz's come back soon - mine are proving to be intermitent ...

and Trinity - YEESH!!! I don't know that I would be able to sleep after that - raw or cooked! ... I hope all is well and that the disembodied hand proves to be something silly like a t-shirt or some other unexpected mundane object ... good night, sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs (or anything else) bite.

I'm having this challenge as we speak. Can't sleep, so I got up and checked my computer stuff. I'm sure it's detox, or, just that my body needs less sleep now that Im over the two month all raw mark.

So glad I'm not alone in this.
