hi,

For someone who is diabetic, are there certain foods or food groups to consume more of, and/or certain food groupsto not consume so much of, when eating just raw food?

I'd also really like to know how much green leafy veg everyone here eats a day?At the moment I'm eating 130g - at the time I thought that was a lot but I definately seem to be craving more!I'm just interested to know how much leafy-green stuff everyone else eats compared to that. I'm eating mainly spinach, along with watercress, rocket, and a few odd other leaves.

And lastly, I'm getting a load of raw cashew and almonds delivered in the next few days - I know you are suppost to soak/sprout nuts to activate the enzymes.. does anyone know how long I need to soak cashews and almonds and do they need sprouting or can I eat after soaking? If theres a guide around how to soak/sprout all varieties of nuts that would be helpful too!!

Any help would be grately appreciated!!!

Kind regards, jamesey

Welcome! I can address a few of these questions. My former landlady tried Raw for several weeks and has severe diabetes. Much to her suprize, her blood sugar levels quickly evened out despite her eating lots of fruit and even some dried fruit. She was feeling great, but like so many people, fell back into familiar bad habits with food. So, don't underestimate how powerful cooked food addiction is. Also, if you're going to eat sugary food like fruit, apparently fat will slow down the sugar digestion, so experiment with eating some nuts with your fruit versus alone and see how you do.

You want to soak your almonds for 24 hours to two days and that completes the process. It's nice to let them dry for a couple of hours in the sunshine afterwards. I personally don't bother to soak cashews; they're softer and I digest them okay as it.

I consume upwards of two bunches of greens a day. It's so amazing to do so. I operate at a very vital level when I do.

Do you have Alissa's book yet? I'd so highly recommend it. It's a survival manual for the raw lifestyle. After reading perhaps two dozen books on raw eating, it's my number one recommendation.

And there's lots of support for you on this board. Again, Welcome!:)

I have diabetes. I have to be careful how much fruit I eat, but it's not a problem since I really don't like fruit very much.

I don't know how many greens I eat. Not a lot really because I have gastroparesis and don't digest them well.
