Hi everyone.
I have been 1 week now on green smoothies. 4 cups of baby spinach with a banana. I really enjoy them, and sometimes have 2 a day.
I checked nutrition data, and it stated that im having 6 times the RDA of vitamin A, and that these large doses can cause hair loss, and be dangerous.

Then another article stated that you CANT overdose on vitamin A through food only.
Im confused. Any nutritionists out there? Thanks

I'm not a nutritionist, but I don't believe that Vitamin A toxicity will happen with food (provitamin A carotenoids). The symptoms you're referring to are for things like taking synthetic retinoids/retinols, like Retin-A or accutane for acne. Too much Vitamin A through food may turn your skin yellow, but that's about it. There could be more to it, but those are my thoughts on it. Perhaps someone else can chime in. :)

Why don't you mix it up and try some different fruit and greens in your smoothies. I eat about 2 or 3 bananas per day. I also make spinch dip atleast once a week, and add spinich to my smoothies. Red roamine lettuce is a good green in smoothies, and apples make a good smoothie sweetner.
