View Full Version : Candida and fruit?

I'm pretty sure I've got candida, and I was told by more than one naturopath to stay away from fruit. One of them also said to stay away from nuts (due to the mold factor). So how on earth do you stick to a raw diet? I don't think eating nothing but greens would be very healthy for me. I'm already quite underweight, and I'm not looking to lose weight. I would think that the calories from fruit and nuts would help me keep the weight on (if eaten in sufficient quantities). But what can I do so that I don't feed the candida? (I'm already taking probiotics and enzymes.)

I've heard theories that candida is caused by fats or refined starches. Is there a candida expert here who can shed some light on this issue?

Is it safe to eat fruit and nuts if you're already full of candida?

I am not an expert but I had candida pretty bad and I cut out the fats and ate mostly veges with lots of fruit and it finally went away. I ate avocados and coconuts, nothing else (fats) until it was gone.

You will hear a lot of "schools of thought" on the whole candida issue. As you've discovered, some say to eliminate fats while others say eliminate fruit.

I, personally, did not eliminate either and was able to have my body rid of candida...so was Alissa and many others here on the forum.

But you may want to, rather than take any one person's word for it, experiment and see which works best for YOU. Try it with simply eating raw, period...no restrictions and see after an alloted amount of time how it works out. If you don't get the desired results, try cutting back on fruit and if that doesn't do it, try doing it like Stacie mentioned and eat less fat and mainly fruit and greens.

But I'd seriously consider just doing RAW, period, for a while and see if you get better!

I believe the only nuts you might want to watch are peanuts. I've heard those have molds. I've never heard of mold problems with other nuts though.

This is just me, mind you. When I first started raw, I got what felt like the beginnings of a yeast infection out of the blue. I very rarely get them. I jumped on the board and got info. I started gobbling acidophillus and then got probiotic acidophillus and it went away in a couple of days. No sign of it since.

This has been my experience, too. I notice it isn't fruit or fats, it is flour products and refined sugars!

Hi, when I first went raw I had candida like symptoms. I could not even have a little bit of pineapple juice or the candida like symptoms got so bad I could not stand up straight. So I read up on what to do and found out what worked for me. First I ate less sweet fruits and more low gi fruits, then I watched my food combining. I was eating fruit as a dessert after nuts, avocodos, and other raw foods that take longer to digest and the sugar was hanging around to long in my system causing problems. So if I ate sweet fruits I ate them by themselves or an hour after eating any nuts or other raw foods that take longer to digest. I have since read that coconut oil helps with candida symptoms. You could add this to smoothies to equal out the sugar. Also when I first went raw I ate so many dates and these are total sugar with a very high gi index. I can eat anything raw now, but I still kind of watch out for what does and does not combine well together. I hate candida symptoms, and I hate feeling bloated and gassy as well.

One thing I have recently learned is that cream of tarter is a bi product of fermenting grapes (yeast)
according to Dr Wong, bathing yeast in it own waste will help it die
I am using it and it does seen to be effective
he also recommends Molybdenum 500mg once daily to stop the yeast die off from causing brain fog it causes the yeast to change the excrement of alcohol to non alcohol and it VERY effective .......
I started raw food some months ago but because of the horrible yeast problems
elected to go to Body Ecology ... with the discovery of the cream of tarter and Molybdenum I am returning to raw foods ...
but will stay away from dried fruits and concentrated sugars on all forms for a long time

My husband mainly does raw, but he has also eaten tons of bread over the years. Also lots of fresh fruits. We were not big on fats however, including nuts or avocados.

Recently he was on drugs for a tooth infection that created a monster effect to the body. He was allergic to all the drugs they gave him: Amoxicillan, Metha something Presidone, Benadryl, and Predisone. He was a mess: itchy 24x7, swelling, bumps like hives throughout body and worst case this MD had seen. I don't do drugs or MD. He was almost headed to the hospital too. Someone suggested it could be candida on a list. So now this is what I am doing as he waits for a 6 week appointment for NAET, allergy testing as well as acupuncture. He has appointment for Ion Cleanse sessions to start next week to flush the body. This woman is super busy too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhvi43hAcn8&mode=related&search=

Candida:
He's also taking a Probiotic daily. He is feeling the difference already without bloating daily effects. It is homeopathic. He's starting with the High Potency. It's Aqua Flora. www.aquaflorainc.coom

The bottle is loaded with symptoms of candidiasis. Just sharing what my husband is doing. After all these drugs he is very itchy still, but it is getting much better. Email me if you have further questions as not always here and I can come back and post responses gladly.

Today got a call and they moved my husband's ion cleanse appointment up by a week. He went in today.

He surely has candida and badly. The water was very bad. He plans on having several more treatments to clean up and out. He is around several engines when he works on his trucks or compressor so I know he has to get extra toxins from these fumes.

One questionable tube of cream she sold him by Nature's Sunshine is the Pau Arco Lotion, a cream, you spread on. It has sodium laurel sulfate, aloe, stearyl alcohol, steatric acid, PROPLYLENE GLYCOL, isopropyl myristate, LANOLIN, METHLPARABEN, PROPLYPARABEN, and allaantoin (which I need check out).

Needless to say I am not impressed with this product.

Any comments or suggestions?

She told him that she used to be very strict and she has loosened up, but still with these type of ingredients, I am not loosening up at all. To me this is a compromise. I am looking for something else now.

Just wanted to share.

Next appt. in a week. He was fortunate to have his first treatment already and the swelling in his legs is going down in a short time.

NAET scheduled for end of November.

Feel free to email me in case I don't show up for a while and will come back and post for others.

I'm not too familiar with creams for eczema (as I don't have it), but another more natural alternative might be something like Dream Cream from Aroma Crystal Therapy. I used it as a moisturizer, but it claims it can be used for eczema, rashes, psoriasis, etc. It smells quite nice, and it's pretty natural. It's also about half the price of the Peaceful Mountain stuff. :)

I did cream of tartar, all it gave me was horrible bloating and gas, sometimes stomach pains, and basically no results. - I'm doing the 2 week no fat approach, if that doesn't do it I will have to do the no sweet approach.

Hi keeping dried fruits & nuts in your refridgerator will help reduce possibility of moulds/yeasts that feed candida. If you can buy your nuts in the shells then thats even better cos the moulds start once the nut is exposed to air. Pau d'arco is a great herbal natural way to treat candida & other infections.

Last night another ion cleanse done, second one. Husband doing fabulous and down two belt notches avoiding fruits and breads too. He's still taking the Candida cleanse and now can add in a green apple per the cleanse lady. She's offer that suggestion. It's amazing and I have nothing to compare it to however, but feeling warm hands and feet in bed are sure signs of improvements although that was not the initial issue. It seems to be a benefit we didn't expect. He is still doing the probiotics so maybe it's that for his increased temperature control, but regardless something is working. He still have several weeks, after Thanksgiving, for the NAET person who also does acupuncture.

Sharing here and maybe it can help someone else.

He is not doing any fermented foods at this point either.

Wishing you all great health.

Email me to come back if you have questions.
