If Garden of Life is also a multilevel marketing group, then Yes I have heard of them and have used many of their products. In fact just a while ago I saw several items sitting on my shelf. I do believe that they are considered raw in that they haven't been exposed to heat, and they taste really good overall.
I believe the products are based on the bible's description from the book of Daniel.

Hi,
I work at a Health Food Store and Garden of Life is a very high quality product. I have tried their "Fruits of Life" whole food antioxidant matrix bar in the summer berry flavor & it's awesome & from what I can tell - it's raw - it's not vegan because it has honey - but it's made with "whole, live and organic" foods.
My co-worker takes the perfect food - green mixture - and she said she feels great when she takes it and can tell when she doesn't. (She's not raw btw).
As far as the what temps. they go through - I don't know - but I do know their products work.
Hope this helps a little bit! :o

I took Garden of Life's Primal Defense probiotic for a while. I didn't notice whether it did anything or not. But then, I haven't had much luck with probiotics in general.
I don't think it hurt. The pills were rather large for swallowing, though...

i just got an email back from them this morning which is super fast considering i emailed them on the weekend. i had asked about the perfect food green powder and they said it was dried above 110 for a few seconds and then dropped to below 100. thats good enough for me... even gabriel cousens says we can do that in our dehydrators and its fine :)
i took it yesterday and although ill definitely need time to get used to the grassy taste (i added cinnamon today and it helped and is sooo good for you) i felt fabulous all day long. i craved a lot more greens/sprouts than usually, ate a way higher greens-fruit ratio, and didnt feel the need to snack or eat heavy food! and i didnt have as much bloating/gas. it has some probiotics in it. WOW. and i only took half the dose. if its going to keep working that way for me, im hooked. despite the taste, which im hoping ill grow to love. i keep telling myself its sooo good for my body and so learn to love it that way, lol.
i was wanting to take their primal defense ultra probiotics but cant find it in stores, id have to order it.... i can find their original formula but the ultra looks soooo much better. they also have a "fungal defense" probiotic that i can get in stores, which i believe is made from lovely fungi and i might give that a try!
thanks for all the info!
love,

Sorry to be in disagreement, but I was one of the distributors so I know for a fact that they were or are a MLM company, too. Their product is very good however you find or buy it.

MLM=Multi-level Marketing (Amway was one of the first companies to use that form of marketing).

i used their probiotics for a few years... it really helped me a lot. i have problems digesting food. haven't figured out why... but taking the probiotics every morning made a huge difference for me.
when i went into the health food store... i asked for a high quality product and they went right to the garden of life. then i asked at two other health food stores and they both responded exactly the same... so this meant a lot to me. (since i played 'dumb' each time)

aleesha,
which of their probiotics did you use?
they have primal defense, primal defense ultra, & fungal defense.
i wanted to try the ultra but cant find it in stores; i might try the fungal.
im having a lot of digestion problems as well and im hoping it would help.
do you not take them anymore?

i took the primal defense. i stopped taking it because my family pressured me to see a doctor (i hate allopathic medicine) and he wanted me to go medication and stop the probiotics. i agreed to try it... found his medication worked but didn't heal the issue (lack of digestion) and so i stopped his medication and starting looking for other options which brought me to fasting... which brought me to raw... which brought me to more fasting and hopefully, eventually 100% raw!
i need to pick up some more primal defense... honestly i just forgot about it :( i looooooove having it in my body. i found i had much greater ability to digest when i was taking it.

just called black sea organics to ask if they have the ultra... they don't but they are in the middle of being sold (as owner david ferguson died this summer) - she said the new owners should be able to bring it in.
have you asked any health food stores if they'll order it for you?

okay i just called another health food store i deal with. they said that at this time, the ultra is not available in canada... that's why you can't seem to find it. they said, it changes all the time so check back but it's not on the availability list from them.
they do have a new cleanse though... and at $39 i may try it, have to do some more reading first... here's a link:

I've been taking probiotics too, but not noticing any difference. Difficulty with digestion can stem from lack of HCL in the stomach. That can be tested. There are HCL capsules that you can add to every meal, and they can help to improve digestion.
Haven't tried Garden of Eden stuff yet. I add Greens Plus to my morning green smoothie, and I can tell the difference when I take that.
I don't know if this is true, but I've heard that the probiotics die (by stomach acid) before they reach the right level in your intestines. The pills would have to be entero coated to stay intact, but I don't know what is true....

Maria,
All I know is there was a huge difference in my health when I was taking them. I knew when I missed a few days in the beginning. Over time as I healed more and more... I could run out and miss a week without any upset.
So for me, the proof is in the pudding. I am very sensitive to things I put into my body, if I take a tylenol... I can actually feel it taking effect. So that may be why I was able to feel such a significant change. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x87/recyclinggoddess/thheart.gif

Aleesha, thanks for posting that! I took Pearls brand probiotics for a while, and they seemed to work pretty well actually. I haven't taken anything for a while, so I forgot about those.

i just heard back from them regarding the perfect cleanse. they recommend not using it during a fast. it must be taken with your evening meal.

10-10-2007, 02:47 PM
are you thinking of trying it?
if you do id love to hear the results.
its supposed to be quite a conveniant one as you dont have to take time of work, and like you said you dont need to fast.
im just not sure how effective it is.

well i am fasting so i can't do it. i am on day one... and i'm hoping to fast and cleanse for the next 40 days. so no trying it for me i'm afraid.
i have tried another brand, can't remember the name right now. it's seemed very gentle although i did 'feel' it as i let go of the toxins in my system. i can get the brand if you wish.

oh definitely!!! the first one i did... i was soooo grumpy the entire 9 days. i could have eaten my own kids for lunch... or at least shoved them into the juicer... it was horrible. but, my wonderful amazing kids (and hubby) were soooo understanding. i released soooo much neg emotions.
the next time i fasted i was pleasant. still grumpy but not the same horrible level of grumpy i was the first time around. i had the ability to bite my tongue and just go drink some more juice or give myself a time out with a nice meditation. ;)
this time... i hope i release more 'stuff'... emotional, mental, physical, spiritual... cause i look at it this way... if it's released, then it's no longer in my body!

ive been carrying it around for TOO LONG.

i agree. life is too wonderful and too short to bother with carrying around old baggage.
i love living with buddhist values. when i feel/think/experience something... i look at it and then, i know i can choose to just let it go. i don't have to become emotionally attached to it. i can choose to just release it. i acknowledge it (i'm not living in a pink bubble of non-reality here), thank it for the lesson/nudge etc., and then i move on.
ahhhhhhhhh bliss!

What a beautiful and clear description of this Buddhist value. I try to live the same (still learning) and I've never seen it written so clearly and concisely in just a couple of sentences. Thank you for that. If you don't mind, I'm going to print that up and put it on my computer monitor to refresh myself on how to handle the negativity that comes up.
