hello everyone :) hope all is well
sooo i finally decided to try making a sesame/flax/sunflower seen bread sooo exciting, except that i have NO idea how to read recipes i think
ok i know that when you soak seeds they usually double in size right? so when a recipe calls for 1cup flax meal is that one cup soaked flax seeds then processed into meal or is it just one cup of the actual meal.......
same for any seeds that have been soaked. the particular recipe is from a book that specifies the necessity to soak seeds....but doesn’t specify the amounts lol.........could some one please help??

Ok, I really don't know your recipe and can't speak for it, but whenever I get flax seeds in water they get all slimey, if they are ground then it's a slimey mush. The thought of grinding soaked flax seeds seems like an award winning accomplishment. I don't know if anyone does this without any problems?
I generally don't soak flax seeds but just grind them so the body can process them, otherwise they just come straight out :p
My guess is that you just measure the dry ground flax seeds. As for other things like sunflower seeds, try measuring them after soaking.
Best of luck!

i think when a recipe calls for flax meal it is just the ground seed. i buy bags of meal, as well as whole seed, as i dont have anything to grind with.

Lily – ty much for your suggestions, I’ll try that next time
raw surfer- ty and where do you get your flax meal?
haha i guess we shall see what comes out of the dehydrator :D
live and learn right!
but seriously, when you guys make bread how do you follow the recipe? i was never much of a cook and when i did cook, i improvised or let my bf do it :(
thank you for all the ideas!

I don't have a dehydrator, so I can't give much feedback there! You'd wonder how I eat raw food, no dehydrator, juicer, blender or food processor. That's love I say, I use a hand mixer that comes with a small blending box!
Just try and see how things turn out, it's the best way imo :)

I might not be right, but when it calls for 1 cup of flax meal...I use 1 cup of flax meal...and 1 cup of soaked flax seeds..I measure out 1 cup of flax seeds and then soak them in the same amount of water. Sometimes it turns out great, sometimes I make a note to myself to use more or less seeds....sure hope this helps.
