I know this may sound funny but I'm curious if I may be doing something wrong. I've been doing a lot of fruit/vegi smoothies and my nose has been running more than often and I've been sneezing more than often. Is my body becoming more sensitive to my environment? I live in a small town surrounded by farmland.
When I make a vitamix full of smoothie I sometimes drink it all in one sitting. But sometimes cut it in half by drinking half for breakfast and half for lunch. I often have my own homemade sauerkraut (raw, uncooked and yummy) too with it at lunch time. I've been doing this smoothie thing for a little over a week now. Any ideas?

Is it possible you caught a cold?

I bet some people would say it is a form of detox. I get tired of hearing that, but it may be true.

What kind of fruit are you using? Certain types of fruit (like pineapple) create the same effect in me, so I have to use fruit in moderation.

Thanks friends,
Today it cleared up. I use bananas, peaches, apples. Hardly ever use pineapple but would love to.

Sounds like it may be detox to me. I get sort of the same symptoms - like I have a cold or the flu.;)

ANY-time the body is trying to rid itself of something foreign be it toxins, germs, excess mucous, etc....it's detoxification - detox for short.
Sir, your body is trying to eliminate something and that is why your nose is (or rather was) running and you were sneezing. It could have been that you're being cleaned out from past eating and/or meds from past illnesses or it could be that your body was cleaning out something from your environment or it could be that your body was cleaning out germs. But trust that our bodies were created in wisdom to heal and cleanse when we don't get in the way and nine times outta ten, the symptom IS the cure!

Rawkinlocs, thanks for the fine post.
Today after eating a huge Cohen inspired salad I had to go to the grocery store for some things. Man oh man was I pumped. I felt so great! I wonder what I'll feel like nine months from today or twelve. Maybe on October 7, 2008 I'll tell everyone here just how I feel.

Do you have a neti pot? You can add a little sea salt and rinse out your nose, this can help alleviate some of the symptoms.

I've been like this for the past few days...I thought it was allergies, but realized it's probably detox. I'm getting sick of the detox thing now. it's day 5, I want to be done with being uneasy in my own body!!

I love your post, Rawkinlocs...
I, too, used to be skeptical when every discomfort on RFT was chalked up to detox. But then I started to experience a few things myself...and it made perfect sense.
Also, in reading Dr. Herbert Shelton's books on fasting (who also advocated a vegan diet and highly suggested raw vegan), he described detox symptoms very very similar to what many here on RFT, including myself, have experienced.
Additionally, like you mentioned, the body is always trying to detox. If you are eating a SAD diet, and you get the flu, that is a form of detox, as well. Our bodies are put together to do so.

i have one but i must be a neti idiot, because using it never helps me for more than a few minutes.

it sounds like some detoxing.
get a neti pot and clear that shit OUT.
simple spring cleaning.
i fill it with warm water, add 1/8 tsp baking soda, and 1/8 tsp salt.

After breakfast my routine is floss, brush and neti.
It can easily get to be a habit
