Hi.

I am new to this forum and so I thought I should introduce myself instead if just lurking! :)

I live in New Zealand with my wonderful hubby and my two lovely daughters who are 14 and 12. We are currently homeschooling although dd14 is going to try school next year.

I am turning 40 next sunday and have had Rhemuatoid Arthritis since I was 13. I have decided to s l o w l y transition to a raw food diet, which I am excited and nervous about, to hopefully, be able to come off my meds which are literally destroying me. I am going to take it really slowly as I don't think I could cope with a heavy duty detox.

I have always had a raw diet in the back of my mind, but never did anything about it as I hate feeling cold. I realise now, after reading through this forum, that there are ways to minimise this. I am really wishing I had tried this sooner.

Another thing that has always been on the back of mind is that, if my children were ever diagnosed with something 'incurable' the first thing I would do, would be to put them on a raw food diet.

How have you guys transitioned to a raw food diet? Did you find it difficult or easy, or somewhere inbetween?

I am so glad to have found this forum. You are all so supportive of each other.:) :D

Hi Stargirl,

Welcome to RFT.
Where in New Zealand are you?

My partner, little girl of 3 1/2 and I live in Auckland and are into organic gardening, raw food, playcentre and I'm doing research about homeschooling at the moment.

Did you know Sergei Boutenko is coming to NZ ?!!!! :-)

Hi and welcome! Glad you are here. I think you'll find it easy to make the switch, especially when you start feeling great! Don't be too afraid of detox, it only lasts a few days then it's over. I think it's worse when you drag it out. Wishing you all success!!! ( :

Hi Stargirl!

I am on the same side of the world, living in Singapore. We visited NZ for our 10th anniversary and LOVED IT! Hoping we can live there someday.

The detox lasts a short while only and then you feel fantastic. Sometimes slowly is good, but jumping in with 2 feet isn't bad either. I (thought) had Fibrolmyalgia, and was in alot of pain daily. Turns out it was just multiple food intolerances. Now that I eat raw, and avoid the foods I am intolerant to, my pain is gone!
Hopefully you will be free from the pain soon as well.

Blessings on your journey!

Hi Stargirl :)

I'm from Auckland NZ and turning 22 this Sunday! I've been raw for 56 days now (not that I'm counting or anything..tehe) and it's been amazing. I am so alive and have so much energy to take on the world! I went from a vegan diet to a raw food diet and basically jumped straight in. I didn't experience any major detox symptoms though so maybe I just got lucky!

I wish you all the best for your journey :)

I know it's a Tuesday night so yeah the 27th sounds right. There is also one on the 28th in Browns Bay apparently. The person who knows all the details is Spirulina28. Spirulina and her husband run a raw food catering business they have a website www.vitalessence.co.nz you could try ringing the phone number on there sending an email. I would like the details for the Wednesday night one in Browns Bay as I can't make the Tuesday night one. So if you find out any details please pass them on! :D

Welcome Stargirl! :D It's wonderful to have you here! Good for you, making the decision to go raw! You know it's the right path!!!

My family did 100% raw overnight, and the detox wasn't bad at all. We weren't on meds, but we were die hard junk food junkies. Yuck!

It feel wonderful to be feeding my daughters raw. Their 98% raw or more. And I feel confident about their health now. It seems nowadays in the SAD world, that it's a matter of when you're diagnosed with something awful, as opposed to if.:( I hope my girls stay on this path so they aren't a part of that!

Best wishes on your journey! You've come to the right place for support & knowledge!
