Hi! Does anyone know what you should substitute nuts with when you are allergic to nuts? I am VERY allergic to tree nuts and peanuts. I am also allergic to eggplant and avacado. Help me. Please.

I can have seeds and grains. I really love quinoa. (Hopefully, spelled correctly.)

Im bumping this post fro answers as well. I can NOT eat walnuts or pine nuts or pecans or any tree nut for that matter. Anaphylactic shock. Thats what happens to me. I stop breathing and swell up, hives, etc. This can happen without even ingesting them. I would love some new recipes b/c Im getting bored. Please help.

I substitute sunflower seeds for most nuts just because they are so inexpensive! I am not allergic to nuts...I just cannot afford them. Raw, organic sunflower seeds are $1.99 a pound at Whole Foods Market!

sunflowwr seeds, hemp seed, also, if you are dehydrating, buckwheat.
pinenuts? think they are actually a seed....but if you are not allergic that is a start.
quinoa IS actually a seed but i don't know how they work INSTEAD of nuts in reipes....i don't think too well.
pumpkin seeds are good too.

How about coconut? That is supposed to be a rare one as allergies go...and even if you are allergic, you can probably handle some raw coconut OIL. I love to eat a few small pieces with a salad for dinner.

Sesame seeds are really delicious, too, if those work for you. You can make tahini and use that in popular "cheese" recipe here that I think Morn posted instead of other nuts. I use sesame or sunflower seeds in Alissa's pate recipes with success. They are all good spread on raw nori and wrapped up with greens and sprouts.
