I'm just wondering what an ulcer feels like. I've NEVER had pain in my stomach. It's not double over pain, but it still hurts and is bothering me. I've been under tremendous amounts of stress lately so I don't know if it just has something to do with that. Either way, what can I do to help relieve the pain and stop whatever the reason?
I bet it's from acid. I'm sorry that I don't know how exactly to find it, but there was a great thread on her a ways back about acid/alkaline behaviors and foods...
When I was 19, I had a stomach ache that felt sort of like heartburn, but it was for weeks. I went to the doctor, and she said I had an ulcer and to cut out all processed foods, meat, dairy, coffee, cigarettes (which I only had socially at that time)... And she said I should drink hot tea and relax. I did not take any medications for this, but all of the above things did help.
I had stomach pains all the time before raw, and they would be almost crippling specifically when I was also under a lot of stress. Since going raw, I have had more events, more stress, but never any pain like before...
You're eating raw, so it sounds like stress that you're not controlling may be releasing a lot of acid. More exercise, more water, relaxing more, all of those things should help. And maybe yoga or something else that makes you feel more loving and peaceful?
Hope some of that is helpful. :)

To me my Ulcers felt like a pain in my tummy more harsh than just a belly ache. I have had them once or twice as a child from stress. I used to have problems with dairy and every night I was rushed to the hospital for a buttock injection so I could move, because I would be crippled in a fetal position until I got the needle. Damn dairy!! Ya.. it was pretty stressful
If your ulcer is from stress.. you have to unwind and find ways to do that.. I personally get stressed just from watching tv... It doesn't take much to make me worry about nothing.

Sometimes you can't feel them. I had an endoscopy that showed three ulcers. I never would have guessed!
I also have GERD and had no symptoms that I know of until the Dr. started me on the slippery slope of GERD meds. All of them made me very ill and gave me GERD symptoms.
Right now I am taking Maalox a couple of times a day. Not raw, I know. But I have to do something to keep the acid from coming back up and damaging my esophogus further.

Thanks for the responses. I haven't been raw, which may be causing more stress on my body physiologically than raw would (obviously). The pain was more like....a strong ache and after I eat or even take a bite immediately it starts up again. I was thinking of just having some tea and juices to calm my stomach down to see if that helps. I was feeling nauseas last night as well. It scares me that it COULD be where I had surgery 4 years ago and I messed it up some how....eh, I worry a lot. That could be part of this pain haha ya think?
