I have been 100% for 15 days. Twice since I've been eating solely raw, I have experienced dizzy spells. Just sitting at my computer, it felt like I was on a merry-go-round and if I turned my head to quickly...well, you get the point. The second episode lasted much longer than the first and I'm just wondering if this is a detox symptom and what I can do about it or if I should be worried about it? It was kind of alarming and I had to lay down and drink a lot of water before it stopped. Has anyone experienced this?
when you had this episode, had you already eaten for the day? and if so how long before it happened? How about your water intake? Are you anemic? These are all things you may want consider. Many times are bodies just need to be adjusted to restore balance and will speak up. There are many symptoms that are related to detoxification, just not all of them.

Hey Holli ~ I actually am experiencing this right now. I find it very frustrating/upsetting as well so I will be interested in the replies you receive. I always assume everything is detox/healing related but maybe not in this case. I've also been EXTREMELY tired lately... are you feeling that as well??

Hello,
I am going thru this now, too.
My eyes get sorta fuzzy when I get dizzy. My eyes are fuzzy as I type. The dizziness is detox for me because I am very healthy otherwise, This is a good thread to help people who are going thru this, thanks.

I feel like that when I've only had fruit or little to no fats and greens.

Hi. Yes, I have experienced this.
It's medical term is called vertigo.
It usually is a result of low blood pressure but can be caused by calciuum deposits, inner ear infections or your nerves can become inflamed after an upper respitory infection or severe cold.
There are "movement" clinics who can treat this. Usually it occours in the elderly and that's when they tend to fall. But I'm not elderly, and it doesn't sound like you all are either.
Sooooo, check your blood pressure. (mine dropped a lot after going raw to below normal) Drink a ton of water if it's down.
Hope that helps.

Me too....just a little while ago. I have been very tired for the past few days. Feeling kind of run down. I have had to get up very early for clinicals and I had to go long periods without food today so I am attributing it to low blood sugar. I feel much better after eating dinner.

Yes, I have been very tired as well, especially when I get these "spells". I have been diagnosed with anemia in the past. The funny thing was this last spell happened when I had eaten spinach in my gs and again in a salad for lunch, so I don't think low iron was the cause. I had eaten plenty and had been drinking a fair amount of water too. Maybe low blood pressure...If blood pressure does drop due to "going raw", how does one rectify that? I know drinking water was mentioned...why does that raise your blood pressure?

this happens to me as well. i noticed it recently quite a bit, always at the computer. it used to happen to me occasionally before raw...but i also have low blood pressure normally.
i have been increasing my young coconut intake. 2-4 a week. who knows if that is going to help, but my body is asking so i am giving.
i also take it as a sign that maybe we are more sensitive to harmful computer rays or whatever...hmmm?

I had the worst detox. I am actually kind of relieved to hear that other people suffer from the same thing. I was so dizzy for 10 days. I had very bad brain fog. I felt like I could not focus my eyes and my sinuses were so inflamed, I wanted to cry I was in so much pain in my face and head. Well now I am 3 solid weeks of 100% raw!! I feel so great!!! I have lost 12lbs and no more headaches, thank goodness.
Stick with it, even though it is brutal to go through, it is all worth it in the end.
warm wishes
Karen:)

Karene,
I'm so glad you mentioned the brain fog. I normally feel fairly clear, even when I ate bad, and since going raw (only 16 days) I feel almost stupid. I walk into a room and I don't know why I'm there. My sentences don't seem to string together. I am starting a new job next week and I'm praying my detox will lessen by then so I can be articulate! I know everyone's bodies are different, so the detox process is different, but since I've gone raw, I haven't been feeling too great...I know it will be worth it, and I've abused my body for years, so it will take time to heal.

I am experiencing the fogginess too and also I can't get my words out fast enough and sometimes I stutter I am trying to talk so fast. It's got to be detox if we are all feeling the same way.

drink lots of fibrous green smoothies with celery in it. the fiber will move through toxins and lessen the detox.
also, up your sodium intake. between meals on an empty stomach, take a pinch of sea salt with water a few times a day. this should clear it up. does for me.
and studing biology i would hazard a guess to say that if you arent getting any potassium, it might be the other way around. but you will know this if your dizziness gets worse with the extra salt. if this happens, eat more bananas.
i know from experience about the sodium, but not the banana thing, so dont hold it against me if im wrong.
try the salt though. and celery, greens, and sea veggies.

I am eating all those things daily, green smoothies with bananas and greens. I eat seaweed, nori, celery, carrots, lots of potassium according to fitday.com. I am not lacking in sodium either. Not sure what it is.

try the salt between meals. it has to be on an empty stomach to help with the dizziness.

Holli, both Alissa and other raw experts tell you to eat citrus (oranges, raspberries) with your raw spinach to either activate or help actually assimilate the iron, not sure which. Apparently, just eating raw spinach with no citrus does not get u the iron u need. Have a spinach sald with raw raspberry vinagrette dressing and raspberries sprinklied on top, or something like that.

I was dizzy for about 3 months last year. Finally went to the doctor, he's also a naturopath. He eliminated everything and told me I was detoxing. I started taking Nux Vomica and other homeopathic little white pills for dizziness. I still do some times. It helps..... I also take a nap and relax.

me too!!! I will be teaching an aerobics class and lose it right in the middle of calling a cue, this has happened three times and my class kind of looks at me like okay?!? I told them the wires connecting my brain and mouth is on back order and should arrive shortly...
I hope it doesn't last long for any of us... the bloating and "feeling fat" is getting to me, I am aware of every little thing physically wrong with me, hyper sensativity kind-of...I guess... strange...

You know, it's not ALWAYS about the food. Have you considered your environment? At one point, I was dizzy, couldn't form a complete sentence, had memory lost and stopped sitting in front of my computer for awhile.. It dissipated. I bought a screen to put in front of the computer.. eliminated the problem.
It could be any number of things besides what you are or are not eating. Tension wires, out-gassing from furniture, carpets, etc.... Without knowing what else has changed in someone's life... could be something small that's been brought into the home that one would not even consider.. causing a toxic reaction.. how can one know on their side of the computer?

I haven't been sitting in front of the computer all day so I know that is not it. I have iron overload so that's not it. I eat plenty of seaweed, olives, etc so that's not it. I exercise, I eat when I am hungry, just like most people so I am chalking it up to detox.
