I saw some raw, organic Kombucha drinks at the store but they were more than $4 for 20oz or so. What does Kombucha taste like? Is it worth the price? How many should one drink per week?
Also re blue/green algae and its ilk: What does it taste like? I know it's a superfood, but the thought of eatin algae--indeed, anything that grows on rocks--kinda makes me gag!

Hey KittyMommy ~ Kombucha has a very vinegary taste to it (unless you are making it at home in which case it can be very sweet), is carbonated due to the fermentation process and can be sweetened with fruit juices. I am in love with the divine grape synergy kombucha from G.T. Dave and am in fact drinking my second one of the day as I type this. It is VERY expensive and I have considered making my own but it seems to be the only thing that cures my cravings for soda or beer.
I have also tried algae and it makes me gag. A lot of people like it though so please don't be discouraged from trying it. You never know what you will like until you give it a whirl. I find it overpowering. I do take Alissa's chlorella though because it is in tablet form and I can do a quick swallow without tasting too much. Good luck to ya! :D

You can find GT's Komucha's at Whole Foods for around $3. Yeah, it's kind of expensive...but no more than a typical Starbucks latte that most people don't even blink an eye about! I don't drink them all the time, but they are pretty darn good. My fave is the citrus flavor. It was a bit of an ~acquired~ taste, so if you don't love it right away, I'd urge you to try again.

It was easy for me to grow to love Kombucha by starting with the Citrus or Grape flavors. The citrus reminds me of ginger ale or 7-up.

I love GT's kombucha too!! all the flavors are sooo good..and I really feel them working....
Blue Green algae - I think it really depends on the brand. I actually love E3live, i know it comes in flakes too....
best thing it not to think of what you're eating or drinking !! works for me..

Well.....
Um...errr...
Are they supposed to make you gag?
They taste like they are fermented and spoiled. Thank goodness I got all of my money ($5.00) back....
Maybe I should try another flavor because that one I had was very fizzy and SOUR as all getout.
Has anybody added stevia to sweeten it?
thank you so much for any replies given ahead of time:rolleyes:

i heart kombucha. my brother (a total meat and potatoes man) turned me on to the stuff. he said "the first time i drank one i thought it was totally disgusting. then i felt AMAZING all day. now i love them."
now he's off coffee and on to kombucha! hooray!
