I just got my dehydrator today, and now have both spiced apple chips, and cider vinegar potato chips, and I didn't think there would be a problem having 2 flavors, but my daughter said, it smells like apple pie in here, then when you get closer to the dehydrator, it smells like vinegar. So now I'm wondering if the flavors will cross over:confused:
It's only been about an hour 1/2, so I may be able to save the batch if I take out one or the other. If needed!
THANKS!!

It's possible. Some people have said they have had this problem. Others have said they have not. The only things I have ever combined in the dehydrator were blends of nut mixes (all sweet) and onion bread with nut cheese (all savory). I haven't had a problem.

I never get mixed flavors. I can have onion bread (which is VERY aromatic) on one tray and oatmeal cookies on another and the cookies don't end up tasting like onions...that's been my experience, anyway.

I have been wondering same thing as I project to the future when I have a good dehydrator. I read that the large one is best because most claim they use it alot more than they expected to. But I have read that Rawkinlocs keeps hers going almost all the time (don't know what size she has) and was wondering if that were preferable to keep the flavors from harming each other.

I agree with Rawkinlocs - I've combined all kinds of things, and while smells may cross, I've never noticed the flavors to.
