I'm planning my (first!:D ) garden for next spring, and so have several questions for veteran green smoothie drinkers.

1. If you've used radish/turnip greens in smoothies, what do they taste like? Bitter like kale, or more like collard greens, spicy like arugula, or what?

2. If you grow root veggies for the greens, can you cut them off b4 the root is mature, then come back later and cut them again after they've grown back?

3. Is broccoli really a green? V. Boutenko has it listed in Green for Life as a green her family uses for smoothies. What does it taste like in a smoothie? I just can't fathom broccoli tasting good w/fruit.

TIA. :)

Yeah keep bumping 'cause I'm curious to know the answer to this one myself as me and broccoli don't have a good raw relationship. :)

I'll bump this a couple more times for Zuri. ;) (Well, ok, for me too. :) )

I did a bit of research, and was reminded that broccoli and kale actually belong to the same family, Brassica. So I guess broccoli is a legitimate ingredient in a green smoothie.

I'd still like to hear from someone who's tried a broccoli smoothie, what it tastes like. :)

green smoothies dont have to be with fruit. i use veggies really only for the last meal of the day, and while technically they could be called green smoothies, savory blends are to me more soups then smoothies.

but no way would i ever put broccoli in a fruit smoothie.
