Breakfast--Is there a concensus of opinion on eating or not eating breakfast by raw foodists??..For myself, I do not particularly care to eat anything before 9-10 A.M..I have been this way for decades..
Green Smoothies--I've been trying real hard to have green smoothies in the A.M. for several weeks now..For the most part I JUST DON'T LIKE THEM..I do not care for the taste of chlorophyll, & the taste is starting to trigger my gag reflex..Nothing else that I have ever drank while not visibly nauseous (sick) has EVER triggered my gag reflex..Haven't vomited yet, but my body has wanted to..Willpower alone has prevented it..
To my way of thinking, if I disguise the taste of the greens with large amounts of fruit, I am bombarding my body with a sugar rush..This also should not be good for me??..Any thoughts??..
Yoga--I wish to incorporate something physical into my weekly (eventually daily) routine..I was thinking about yoga, tai chi, qui jong (mispelled?)..What did you choose to do at first, & why??..If yoga, what form??..How do yo like it??..What has it done for you??..
Thanks, Bruce

Hi,
I tend to eat nothing before about 8:00am then I graze all day til about 5.00pm. Then I'm not hungry so I wait til 8am again. This is NOT how I ate when I was non-raw. I just ate anytime and all the time :o
I haven't tried green smoothies. Can you use avocado instead of banana for example to keep the sugar low and use minimal tasting greens and build slowly from there?
I've been meaning to take up yoga for years :o Now I am in Bristol I think there might be a better choice of classes and I'll be interested to hear what others have to say about the different choices.

before raw, i used to wake up anticipating breakfast!!! now i can't swallow anything till later :S which is great really. Well i have swimming lessons at 9 am so i try to eat something. i can have an apple or a banana... but i think that if for some reason your body doesn't feel like digesting anything early in the morning, then we shouldn't force it to :D
GS- hmm i haven't been drinking those for awhile- i do like them and they don't make me sick. I guess you can just try getting your greens in other ways. salads or i put them in soups (with avocados and such, i can't really taste blended greens anyway
I'm not doing yoga (i wish i did! but right now i have swimming and belly-dancing so i kind of don't have time). I just sometimes find yoga for beginners videos on youtube and do them at home :o
sorry i wasn't too much of a help, but hopefully what i said makes some sence;)

Im a huge fan of eating whenever I want. I usually eat a banana when I wake up and an hour later a green smoothie...
Getting used to green smoothies is nothing more then experimentation. you can add coconut oil, like a tblespoon, and that helps with the flavor and makes it smoother. I dont think I could stay raw w/out the smoothies, they keep my cravings in check.
My usual is:
1 c h2o
1-2 bananas (make sure they are very ripe)
1-1 1/2 c frozen fruit
2 c kale
tblspn coco oil
2 dates
As for yoga, I've been doing yoga for five years and it is such an amazing addition to my life. I believe any type of meditation is good for your spirit, and when you add physical exercise to that meditative state, it increases your awareness on so many levels. I strongly suggest trying to incorporate a yoga practice into your exercise program. On the oxygen channel theres a show called inhale- check it out.

some days i dont eat until like 4-5 in the afternoon, other days i wake up and have to eat a good sized meal. i don't try to force myself to eat at certain times, i just eat when my body wants to.

Just listen to what your body wants, if you don't feel like eating until later, that's fine, your body will tell you when it wants food. Some days I'm hungry as soon as I get up, other days I'm not hungry until lunch time. As for green smoothies, fruit is GOOD FOR YOU, don't be afraid of lots of it. I put a very small handful of greens in mine and sometimes a whole bag of frozen cherries, plus a banana, and strawberries. I guarantee you won't taste the green at all, and won't gag. It's really delicious. I've gotten several people in my family to start drinking them daily. However, when they first saw a green smoothie they said NO WAY. But, after they tasted it, they were believers. My 2-year-old grandson even drinks them everyday, instead of milk. :)

You are the only person who can write the rules for your body.
If it doens't feel amazing don't do it.
If you feel like you WANT to like green smoothies, perhaps try just a handful of baby spinach in a light fruit smoothie (using apples and berries is much gentler on sugars!)
I also make a delightful smoothie with grapefruit, cilantro, stevia, cucumber, and whatever else i might desire that is low sugar and absolutely wonderful. you can throw some other gentle greens in to pump it up if you like.
Yoga is okay. There are period of my life I crave it and periods where it simply adds stress. I started with a book, something like "21 days to yoga." it was awesome because it started out slow with just a few poses, and within those 21 days I could put my face on my knees! Taking a class is also a good idea because you learn the correct way to do things. Lots of studios offer a cheap introductory class. There's also this tv show on FitTV called Namaste Yoga. I like that more than DVD's because it's gentle and different daily. Might try a class before that though so you don't get injured.
remember, just do what feels good!
