View Full Version : Lady's "Monthly" Shake

Sorry guys....you can drink these too!

I've been reading different posts lately for dealing with "monthly" cravings and here is my personal solution- at least for the sweet, rich part. When I get the salty cravings I'm still eating a few sundried olives until a better way comes along:)

In blender combine:
5 soaked dates
2 TBS raw almond butter
2 bananas
1 TBS flax oil
1-2 TBS dried coconut flakes (or coco juice/oil to taste)
Add water to desired consistency and blend until smooth.

Feel free to play with the ingredients: maybe add cacao or carob powder?

This shake was sooo tasty and helped my cravings right away.

I do a specialty green smoothie for my monthly cycle. I got the idea from David Wolfe talking about using herbal tea for the base of smoothies and I had pounds of leftover tea from the "hot" days. No, not menopausal. I'm 35. The old cooked days.

Up until ovulation I use Traditional Medicinals Women's Liberty Tea, which is
Wild yam
fo-ti
dong quai
angelica
licorice
sweet orange peel
ginger
cinnamon bark
clove

Before the "full moon" kicks in I use Yogi Tea's Moon cycle with
ginger
fennel
cinnamon
chamomile
raspberry
anise
parsley
saffron

When I run out of these tea bags, I'll probably go to the bulk section and mix my own version of these.

So, I hope I didn't seem to be hi-jacking the thread. Just thought I'd share that. But your recipe looked rich and satisfying!

I haven't been drinking tea lately, but maybe the herbs are a good idea.
