Some icky detox symptoms have settled in this afternoon, mainly intestinal. I have prior digestive problems (reflux, colitis, IBS) and that's one of the things I'm hoping will improve with a raw lifestyle. So it feels almost like my intestines are saying "oh, lookie here, what are all these toxins we haven't had time to address, let's get rid of them!" LOL. So, I'm uncomfortable with a little burning pain and a little bit nauseous. And rather than sit here and dwell on my thoughts about how icky I feel, I need some positive thoughts to address this! The only thing I've come up with is, "I'm getting better!". Any other good ideas for me? TIA!
What a great attitude!! Thanks for encouraging ME! You are already giving yourself positive thoughts--it WILL get better and as the journey continues, you'll become more in-tune with what helps and what hinders your digestion. I focused on what new thing was going on with my mind, body, emotions, tastes, etc. each day when I began. Some days were great with lots of energy and little hunger, some days I felt hungry, or tired, or yukky, but each day was an adventure. Now it's emotional junk--this is the one I'd rather avoid. But everyone here is so kind and supportive and it is making this an educational ride with friends. A life journey to health and fitness, I'm hoping. Glad you're along for the ride.

Thank you for that great encouragement, SuBu. It's nice to have friends along for the journey! I understand about the emotional stuff, I have plenty of baggage myself. A couple years ago I worked with an intuitive eating coach and that really helped me define my issues and address them somewhat. I of course fell completely off that wagon, but I think that experience will come in hand on this journey.

rather than sit here and dwell on my thoughts about how icky I feel, I need some positive thoughts to address this! While reading your post I thought about something I have been trying to do everyday for awhile now. Since finding this forum I have been impressed with the people here and their desire to help their raw lifestyle friends achieve their goals of becomming healthier by encouraging them and sharring any information they can with them. This type of giving is very healing and takes ones mind off of their own problems and situations. I'm not sure if this approach is right for you but I can say that for me it sure does make me feel better and from what I've seen of the people on this forum you couldn't find a better group of people to share your thoughts and help with. We all get by with a little help from our friends.
Diana, I'd like to learn more about what you learned from your coach--how to apply it to myself.

SuBu, I'd love to help you but I don't exactly feel qualified. There are a couple of big things that I took away from that work that stick with me. But there is a ton of information and maybe what stuck for me isn't what you really need? One thing that I kinda discovered on my own that has been immensely helpful is Rational Emotive Therapy. There is a book called Three Minute Therapy by Dr. Edelstein that explains the process, and I use the process a LOT. I think it can be boiled down to "self talk" and he taught how to guide yourself through that in stressful situations like wanting to binge eat. I'd love to send you the book if you're interested, I've loaned it out a couple of times and just got it back again.

Ohhh I've done that work! I love it! It helped me deal with with PTSD. They tried EMDR, hypnosis, talk therapy. The Emotive Therapy (with accupressure) allowed me to live a fairly normal life. I can still get triggered and disassociate but that is far between now.
I also have IBS, etc. I am just starting out and I do notice I feel dizzy a lot. But prior to going to raw I was nauseous all the time do to food allergies so this is almost a relief.
(((hugs))) I hope it gets better for you soon!
