Does anyone use flaxseed oil or coconut oil in thier gs? I have taken flaxseed oil for a while before eating raw but was wondering if coconut oil has better properties.

Also, not really a fan of coconut so is it really strong flavored?

I've used them both. They each have health value that's useful for a vegan diet. I've never been a fan of coconut until raw & find it makes smoothies taste better when mixed with certain fruits like banana, orange, pineapple, etc.

my opinion is that oils are too concentrated for regular use. sure i will use them if i am gonna marinate something or what not, but if you feel like you need some fat add half an avocado to your smoothie or somthing. although in that case fats slow down the digestion of fat and the fruit ferments and creates acidity. but o well right. i prefer to just eat an avo with my veggies and greens in a blended soup as it just digests much better. but im not sure that is quite the answer you want lol.

Neither. Eat whole foods instead of processed, extracts, which is what oils are whether raw or not.

Eat coconut; eat flax seeds.

I grind up flax seeds with a coffee grinder and keep them in a container in my fridge. I've read that the oil goes bad quickly, so this way the oil is always fresh.

I usually add a heaping tablespoon to my green smoothie.

i agree, as do many leading raw foodists (i read this article on how much fats we really should be eating...) i rarely use them in the "processed" form, although i occasionally like a bit of coconut oil in my cakes & brownies just for the taste!
