Never had a problem before. Eating things that always make me evacuate quite quickly like flaxseeds, watermelon. Doing green smoothies, fats, avocados, greens, fruits, carrots. Does anyone know why this is happening or better yet not happening?

Forgot to mention all I ever drink since I was a kid is water. Drink it all day long so I piss like a racehorse. Can't seem to figure this out.

ah, i'm glad you posted this. i have no idea why it happens this way. i was never one to drink a lot of water (or at least the recommended amount per day) through my life up until now. the reason why i avoided doing so was because it went right through me! didn't make me feel any more hydrated/better or whatever else. so, now that i'm 100%, all i drink is water...and it still goes right through!!! sooo annoying to be trotting off the the toilet every hour. as far as the water goes...maybe we should only drink when we are thirsty?

I've always drank a LOT of water also...and never really felt hydrated (and also had constipation)...I read somewhere that even if we drink a lot of water we probably don't absorb it all and the remedy is to add a bit of sea salt to the water, not much maby 1/4 tsp to 1/2 gallon of water.

so whats the problem. all you say is poop. do you have diarhea or constipation?
and for the water, i barely drink any since being raw, and my pee is always clear. drinking too much water is actually bad as it flushes your electrolytes out which makes it much harder for your body to function, and will eventually kill you if enough water is drank

First...don't mean to hijack the thread, but I'm intrigued......rawsurfer - I thought you had to drink copious amounts of water for that to happen....do you know approximately how much water is too bad?
Ok, onto the poo (or lack therof....). This has happened to me more times than I can count. I find that certain foods will help "move it along".....carob is one for me.....it definitely has a laxative effect! Also, flax is a good one (as has been mentioned). I don't know, I just sort of ride it out, and I find that my body will regulate itself. Good luck!

carob and fenugreek do it for me. i had carob for the first time yesterday and it definitely was stimulating if you know what i mean.

once i drank like a gallon of distilled water and i felt like a zombie... it is copious amounts for sure but lesser amounts will still have some effects. sometimes i just take a pinch of salt with a glass of water and get a burst of energy. this is when i am tired but not hungry.
as for the poo, when i am constipated, which used to be my whole life, i would eat a lot of fruit and blended soups and smoothies. going overboard on the fiber will only make it worse.

too much fruit makes me constipated. i find that fats sometimes help move things a long too.

What's my problem? I'm barely poopin' LOL, but after I posted yesterday it helped things along just a little bit. Apparently posting about poop works, but still it bothers me that I am so constipated (the 's' on my board will barely type out today so even my keyboard is constipated). Normally I go three times a day. This last week it's barely once every two days. Thank you for all the anecdotes.

www.watercure2.com talks about how much water to drink and ratio of sea salt to water (1/8 teasp to 16 oz)
Also they advise to eat something like a bagel to absorb the water and keep it in your body for a while if it is going right through you. I don't know what a raw alternative would be - possibly raw undressed eggplant?
All of the articles that I have seen regarding how water can kill - they never mention about adding the sea salt to the water - they just talk about plain water.
It has been humid here lately and maybe I have been sweating out more of my water than I realized.

There have been some good threads here about water, the different types to drink, etc. I know distilled water is not very good for you...sucks all the minerals out. You may want to do a search and make sure you are drinking the right kind of water to help hydrate without flushing out the minerals. I drink from my RO (reverse osmosis) system or spring water only. It seems to help and I'm not running to the bathroom every hour...maybe every 2 hours :D.

fruits high in sugar tend to dehydrate us and can cause constipation... i experienced that for sure hehe
one recent discovery- i ate like 1/2 cup of pumpkin seeds (yes too much) and the next day i had to ruuuuuuuun to the bathroom..... i felt a bit misearable BUT it was greeeeat to feel light
fat definitely helps "move things along" for me it seems ;)

We're talking bodily functions......:o I feel right at home. LOL
I think you would have to drink a WHOLE LOTTA water to have dire consequenses. Continually drinking sips of water and juices throughout the day keep you hydrated. If you are sweating of course you should drink more.
I've been bound up but then after a while and a couple of visits, things work ok. But I don't like the bloated feeling......

I have made my own kombucha tea for years! Brew 4-8 or more tea bags in sugar water that is very hot. (1/2 cup sugar to 4 cups of very hot water). I used 4 -8 bags and let the tea steep for 20 minutes or so. Then I float a kombucha mushroom on top and cover it with a terry towel or cheesecloth! It is put aside for a week. When the week is up, I remove the mushroom and new mushroom baby from the container and put them in the fridge to use again for the next batch. The tea is also put in the fridge to be drunk up over the next week or two. I use porcelin continers or large glass jars for the tea.
Doing this eliminated a very severe case of asthma I had and got me off 6 prescriptions!

Constipation is not JUST a lack of poop. It has more to do with the hardness and strain required to go. You can go a week without going and if its soft/er and doesn't involve cardio type exercises it's not technically constipation.
That said, I've heard you can take castor oil and rub it in to your abdomen and lower back area. Between the laxative effects of the oil, the warmth of the oil and your hands, and the stimulation of the massage it should help move things along.

Rawsurfer, your poor mom! lol I bombard some of my female raw foodist friends in town (as I'm female) with it...lol
I don't wish to seem traitorous by mentioning another raw food author, but Carol Alt mentioned her non-raw sister being 'dehydrated.' The sister replied, "I can't be, I drink water all day." What Carol's raw dr. meant when he told her she was dehydrated was that her sister didn't have the proper oils and fats. Ha! I had never thought of dehydration that way. But looks like you're getting enough fats.
The absolutely minor non-bm day or two I've had since going raw has been so minor I didn't FEEL clogged, compared to my awful stints with days and days of constipation--having to use gourmet-coffee-enemas/taking chelated magnesium by the handfuls pre-raw era. So i didn't think much about it. If you go to the "Is this detox?" thread, Revell has posted some detox symptoms links and a major one can be constipation.....
