That may sound so strange, but it is exactly what I realize each time I try cooked food.
Well, you know, the usual motion is that people new (or not) to raw foods experience "constant hunger". They try to find the ways to fill their tummy, and ask for various suggestions of foods that really fill. I am wondering, is that feeling of being "full" that we seek, really a feeling of being blocked/constipated with stoggy food?
My experience with cooked food, aftering being raw for about 1.5 years, has been that if I have it, I do not really feel satisfied. I do feel 'filled" (or perhaps blocked/constipated), but not satisfied. I want to eat more, no matter how much I have eaten. Also, I feel very thristy. I usually end up going back to my fruit, very quickly!
I begin to learn about the true hunger. I can have a full, heavy tummy and still feel hunger for nutrients/water which I did not get, OBVIOUSLY!!!

yes, yes Gosia, I think you are onto something. Blocked with food is how I feel within moments after eating some cooked foods. Its rather an uncomfortable feeling and makes you want.........something!!!!! humm

spot on! This is how I feel too. Especially with foods like pasta, even though I'm full I'm not satisfied. Almost like I'm _more_ hungry then before I ate....

That is EXACTLY how I feel also! I eat a little cooked food & I gotta have more & more like I can never get enough! I can be full & hurting but not satisfied! It's scary! When I eat living foods I sometimes only have a salad & i'm fine, totally satisfied!

I have the same thing with something cooked;it's like your body is asking for real nutrients!I expereinced it yesterday:I wanted a slice of bread and I ended eating almost the whole loaf of bread with chocolate spread and I still wasn't filled up!This morning I woke up with aheadache and my throat full of mucus......Yuck!I hope I have my lesson learned now!
And yes,Vagan Vixen,it's true sometimes to not overeat in rawfood too, because it tastes soooooogood! ;-) :p

Add me to the list. Same thing. If/when I've had cooked, I always come home and have some fruit or SOMEthing raw where my body feels satisfied. Sort of makes it easier to maintain raw.
It is interesting to me though, how the mind will look at something (which is why advertising w/ pics is so successful) and want it even though the other part of it is going ~ nooooooo! You KNOW how you feel when you eat that! You KNOW how you feel eating raw!
Something someone said to me at one time also ~ IF you eat stuff that's not good for you, you have less room for the good stuff. I've NEVER found myself "over-indulging" in raw no matter how good it takes. Interesting that I'll do it with cooked. Is it because my body is trying to find the nutrients? I think so which is why it's satisfied as soon as I eat an orange.
Hmmm. Just thought of this. Oftentimes cooked eaters will eat the desert first ~ so they have room for the "good" stuff ~ then eat the meal. With raw, even eating the desert first is a good thing. It's all good! :)

Absolutely! Over 2 years ago, I stopped eating sugary, starchy foods. I including not just empty foods like rice, potatoes, bread, pasta, and sugar, but also fruit. My appetite became reasonable for the first time ever. And no more cravings. And my overall health improved dramatically, lost weight, etc. The common explaination is that I was controlling insulin response.
Since starting raw almost two months ago, I've noticed I can eat fruit without resuming cravings -- even bananas, which I never thought I'd be able to eat again. So insulin is not the whole story, I guess. Whatever the cause, yipppeee raw foods!!!

cooked food makes me FULL!! even the smallest amounts... for hours and hours and hours!!
even if its whole cooked foods.. like sweet potato's.. or brown rice.. things along that line... make me really full!!
any raw foods keep me feeling rather " empty "
but ive gotten used to that feeling... so it doesnt bother me anymore.

americans have a prolem with feeling "empty" -I dont know why -where told its only good when we are full. In truth the "empty" feeling is more like "light"-a feeling most americans arent accustom with ,lol  - You have to learn to appreciate it :p
