I have decided that I am not a huge date fan. I love horribly sugary things, but for some reason the date is just too much for me. What could I use in place of dates in my recipes?

I am also wondering if it is wise to purchase food products online, if so, what are the most reputable and affordable websites to purchase from (besides Alissa's of course!) I also need to order a dehydrator, I found a 4 tray excalibur model for under $110, no timer on it, but does have temp control. It is just me eating raw, so I dont need much.

Thanks

I use dried figs, raisons, even prunes on occasion.
What are you making? Somettimes, depending on the reicpie, I use agave, maple syrup and/or stevia.

About shopping for food online, I would say to just be careful if you're not using this web site. You never know who has handled your food, ect. Livingfoods is a good place to shop.

I like dried apricots in my pie crusts, instead of dates or rasins. If it's something more liquid you could use agave or honey. :)

Hi i use figs that i have soaked for awhile instead of dates. Raisins are also good substitute.
I have the 5 tray excaliber with temp control & find it to be large enough for me (it is only me eating raw in my household), i reckon a 4 tray would also be enough for one.
