View Full Version : Rawking October Exercise Challenge

Morn

Fall is now here and we are officially 3/4 through the year of 2007. Did any of you set new year's resolution goals that you didn't fulfill? The good news is that it is never too late to start to get healthier and finish out the year with your head held high. Why wait until 2008 to resolve to get healthier and moving. Your day is today! Don't put off til tomorrow what you can do today. No more excuses we are all BUSY!

We can all start somewhere. Some of us already regularly exercise. A few of us need to be pushed - but we all need it! This challenge isn't about competition against one another. It is about making You be the best You you can be! Whether your goals are to add in more days (time) of exercise, or push yourself harder, or simply do some walking to get started, this exercise challenge is for you. Plain and simple it is about all of us moving more and us encouraging one another in the process! It is also about accountability (which we all need to help us stay focused on our goals). The more we move the more calories we burn and the leaner we get. So with that being said who is with me this October. You define your own goals and check in with us when you complete the day's exercise. It is that easy! Now now more excuses you need to just DO IT! Now who is committed to October and what are your goals?:D

Hi everyone! I am up for some exercise in October! I am also doing the 30 day raw challenge as well.

This is pretty simple....I have made plans to work out with a friend of mine every Monday and Thursday. My goal is to stick to that!

I am sure I will exercise more than that...but that is my bottom line!

Something is better than nothing!

Yes, I guess I am in since I joined the yoga challenge. I FINALLY set up my excercise room in the new place and plan to add rebounding and my pilates DVD's to my Bikram routine.

October goal: streeeeeeeeeetch that spine! Get the blood pumping and energy sky high!

Count me in too! I am assuming that the exercises that my husband and I do two times a day will count for this! Plus I have both physical and occupational therapy twice a week and PT in the pool on Fridays too. In many ways I am even more limber than I was before I had the stroke.

Do I need to list the various exercises that we do?

Morn
09-30-2007, 11:23 PM
Good for you Northern Stars - glad you are onboard.

No you don't have to list the individual exercises unless you want to! It is up to you how much detail you wish to list!

Again glad to have you with us!:D

I'm in... I have M.E and have to watch my energy levels but I think (sorry I will) be using my lunch breaks at work to walk for 30 mins a day and see how I go... Then maybe build up next month...
I should say I walk alot at work so my day is very active... Just going to use this to change what I'm doing and get some air...

Add me to the list !

I am doing as much liquid fast Mon-Thur this week as I reasonably can. I think I will be good to exercise this time round. I was pretty energentic on the Lemon Cleanse Water and Juices. :D

Off I go to walk on the Bluff along the Lake..........:D

Hi all, this morning I did 35 mins, I have 10 mins to go when I get home from work.

Today has been a great day, I've had no problem staying raw thus far and have lots of raw food ready to go for any cravings that might pop up.

I am excited to join the October Exercise Challenge! I am not quite ready to do the 100% raw Challenge, but I am trying to gradually transition to eating more and more raw foods. First, I want to focus on returning to exercise. Due to having a lot of stress and then trying to fast, I didn’t exercise at all for months. Finally a couple weeks ago, I signed up for a yoga membership. I want to start with what I can and work up to these goals:

Goals:
*daily simple stretching (about 5-10 minutes)
*45 minute hot yoga class 4-5 days per week (start w/ beginners level and progress to intermediate)
*30-60 mins light to moderate cardio 4-6 days per week in the mornings (tennis or exercise dvd ie. dance)
*strength dvd (ie 10 minute abs) 3-4 days per week
*aim for 10,000 steps per day; try to walk in the evenings
*add gymnastics once a week by the end of October

Thanks Morn for being our Cheerleader! You are the perfect one for the job. I'm in! I "walk" on my rebounder for 30 to 45 minutes Monday - Friday mornings before work. Some days I add a little weight training. I'm going to try for something on the weekends, too. I've been doing this alone for three months now and I'm ready to be more sociable and accountable. Thanks for the encouragement.

Morn

Yeah Subu - glad you are joining us instead of doing it all alone. Belonging to this thread is what keeps me motivated to get off my duff so I hope the accountability helps you too! Anyway I love rebounding. I guess You and I will be rebounding together!:)

Do you jump the whole time? I do an accellerated walk. Really moving the hips, I guess. Of course, my legs and rear are the LAST place I need to reduce! Isn't that always the way it is? I really need to "challenge" myself to JUMP more!

Yes I do. I have a DVD that I do. I do two different workouts one for 30 minutes another for 45 minutes and it is pretty intense. Most of the movements are bouncing, jumping jacks, running with knees up etc. Then there is also a segment where they do pushups on it and abdominal exercises. It is a great DVD. I am ready to buy some more though cause I need to mix it up. It is by the maker of urban rebounding. I got it free from a gararage sale. :D

:D So glad to be able to say this....I am in ! I go back to the doctor's next week for a follow up but feel like I am healing well so I started working out again!!! (feels good to sweat!!!)

30 min. treadmill walk
15 min. stairmaster
15 min. recumbent bike
30 min. sauna

this month I need to lose the 10 pounds of sludge I've gained post-op and get back in shape!!!!!! It's a tad discouraging to know one can gain so quickly but I haven't been great with my eating habits either......It's a new day and a new month. I always fast on the first day of the month anyway so I feel motivated even though my mouth is saying feed me...I know I am fine and will feel better tomorrow!

I have been putting off exercize (even though I really enjoy it) because of detox. I am IN this month... I know that lack of exercise is partly why I haven't lost much weight.

Goals:
kickboxing
jogging
walking the beautiful Georgia hills - I am so lucky
Zumba
playing with my dd's at the playground now that it isn't 100 degrees outside.

Morn I am finding I have energy to walk and jog but you are right, weights take more energy..and make me HUNGRY..so I will rebound instead. Off to do that.

I am Partail Fasting most days. Last night about 9 pm I ate a Banana. I woke up at 4 AM and could not sleep I was so hungry. I did not drink the Lemon Water yesterday, just water and some green drink.

Hello October Friends!

I didn't get a chance to post yesterday. Yesterday was just walking. I am going to kick it up a notch this month. After all that fasting, I definitely need to rebuild some good lean raw muscle. Here is the deal for tonight, actually, this is my tues/thur/saturday plan

Tues/Thur/Frid - Strength Training
- muscle groups: glutes, hamstrings, legs, inner/outer thighs/chest arms
leg press machine
squats with barbells
chest press machine
chest lift machine
leg curl machine
"thigh" machine (cant think of its proper name at the moment:o )

Cardio
-30 minutes on the elliptical machine

We'll see how it goes. I'll be doing my workouts at night. Oh yeah, how could I forget those abs....I'm going to try to do the ab work stuff in the mornings at home; I don't like laying on the floor/mats at the gym but oh well...

Morn-
You know what I was thinking...I wonder if we add something different to our workout can we prevent that 3-5 pound gain that comes after a fast. I was thinking...I haven't been on the machines for a while; that might make a difference. I thought I should try to jog/brisk walk for at least 20 minutes on the treadmill. I wonder if I do that for a couple of weeks will that balance out the typical fasting weight gain that temporarily comes. I know you want to get to your goal of 130 and I am trying to get to 140. I'm just thinking out loud..mmmm?? I'm trying to do any late night eating if I can help it while my body readjusts to having the food back....

tanishamarshall

Checking in real fast, I did 40 mins of exercise today, I hope everyone had a good day..

Lavender, how far are you from your goal? YOu may have said it somewhere above but I'm sort of in a rush and will check back later.

Hey Doc:)
I'm still stuck on 146 and I want to see what 140 feels like...I may need to go lower...I am believing that my body will stop where it's meant to be....I am going to kick the workout up a notch because I know my body is probably readjusting to the foods (metabolism and things like that)....

I'm about to hit the gym in just a second...taking advantage of this few extra moments and checking out threads.......

In peace.........

dani_b
10-02-2007, 11:42 PM
Hey, how exactly is this thread supposed to work? Does the whole month of October stay on the same thread? Are we supposed to write what we do for exercise each day? I'm just wondering since I'm new for this month!

So, I had an excellent yoga class today and exceeded my goal of 10,000 steps! Yay! I feel like I'll soon be ready for the next level in yoga.:)

I'm surprisingly not sore....I did the workout yesterday minus 10 minutes in cardio...I just felt ready to go and so I'll take those 10 minutes into today's cardio workout. I think that for today, when I get out of the class, I'm going to hit the gym and mix up some cardio stuff.... this is my plan (but it might change).....
5 minutes brisk walking (the walk to the gym from parking lots)
10 minute stair and jumping jack drills
(run up and down the stairs in two cycles and then do 50 jump with jumprope and repeat this one more time)
20 minutes treadmill (high incline)
20 minutes ellipticall
5 minute walk to the car and time to go home ---Yippee!

Oh man.... I forgot to add in the blessed ab exercises:) ... so 5 or 10 minutes of those

Hey Doc!
Just following up from last night's weight discussion......I ended a 18 day water/herbal tea fast last Saturday....I was at 146....Well, guess what Doc... Today the scale reads a lovely 150; it's a little like:eek: but I think if my exercise theory works, I could be back at 146 by Sunday; the goal is atleast 145 just because that will indicate to me that my body has readjusted itself metabolism wise and then after that, I'll be on a weight loss roll again. So my theory is that if I eat every3 hours and intensify my work-out this week, I will "reset" my body's metabolism....That's my experiement this week. We'll see what the Sunday results reveal...based on those results I'll know what to tweak in my eating routine....It's fun though, being so much more in tune with my body now that I'm in the raw....I guess it doesn't help eating pecans and cashews as a just because late night yummy raw snack last night huh:D ... It's okay, It's RAWfully good.....

Ok I really hurt my knee at work today. I smashed it into a chair and I am walking around like a gimp trying to figure out what kind of exercise I should do. Plus I am extremely tired since I only got about 6 hours of sleep in the last 2 days. I think I am just going to do some floor exercises today like abs, buns, etc.

Ok I just finished doing 20 minutes of floor exercises:

abs, buns, inner and out thighs

Now off to do some more thifting out of my closet of clothes that don't fit anymore. I have taken 90% of the clothes out of my closet because they just don't fit anymore. This is a task that is long overdue!

Today I lifted lower body and abs. I have the shakey, wobbly legs walking down stairs and squating down to pet my cats now. :D My arms are kinda sore from yesterday. Feels good. I'm fired up!

irishserra: I'm not officially do body for life. I didn't take before pics and I'm not entering the contest. I'm just doing it to provide some structure. I like the lifting pattern and HIIT. And it's got me excited to be in the gym again!

I have a dillema. I am supposed to have a drink with my female co-workers tomorrow. But I want to go to the gym after work. Maybe I should just go and have water.

I have been absent from this board lately bc I wasn't excercising and I was ashamed :( But I just did a bikram class and I'm back on board! Yes! you said it Shanise...with God what is impossible...absolutely nothing....it's your journey, define it for yourself, take it day by day....If you have a gym membership, you can just start off with a 15-30 minute walk on a treadmill 3 times a week and gradually increase your time/type of exercise. If you don't have a membership, you can start out by doing some walking outside or think of a favorite type of exercise and see if you can find an exercise tape related to that and do that....

I know you can do it....I know you will do it!:)

Hope your knee feels better, Morn! Everyone seems to be going so strong. I have been absent from this board lately bc I wasn't excercising and I was ashamed :( But I just did a bikram class and I'm back on board! Not to mention that it's been about a month now without bingeing and purging and I have been 100% raw for one week straight. Slowly but surely turning my life around :)

I am so proud of you. I didn't stuggle with binging and purging however, I know what eating addictions are and I have struggled with being out of control with food for years before I went raw. I know I have to stay with this lifestyle to keep in control. Anyway glad you are here with us. Eating healthy and exercise is the best way!

Today was my day off so I went and worked out and then stopped by the mall to see if I could get some tips on my makeup at the Bobby Brown counter. Awhile ago someone emailed me and said I had a dated look on my makeup so I figured I needed to update my look. Also I haven’t done much to take care of my skin so I bought a few moisturizing skin products. Now hopefully I can replicate the same look the makeup person did for me today. After the mall I went to my daughter’s volleyball game and out to eat at Ruby Tuesday’s.

Today’s exercise: 2 hours

20 minutes elliptical machine
10 minutes stationary bike
1 hour step class
30 minutes core class

Docsharp - thanks my knee hurt earlier while I was exercising but it is feel a bit better now.

Ok I am sore from all that exercise yesterday. Mostly my behind and calfs from the step workout I did. It was really fun though. The instuctor used 2 steps in an L position and was moving really quick really often so I really had to pay attention to the cues. I wish I was off every Thursday cause it was a blast. I really low on motivation today and so I really need to push myself. So far, I've done hundred jump ropes. I am going to do at least 30 mins of some sort of cardio. I should do more. Cheer up Lavendar, you are one of the hardest working people on this forum! It's okay to give yourself a break. 100 jump ropes? I havn't jumped roped since grade school on the playground! That's great for you!

Well, I did my bikram yoga today, third day in a row. I guess it's really the only excercise I do. I finally got a job at a restaurant, so maybe that will help me to come out of the bout of depression I was going through these past 10 days when I was skipping out on excercise. Having a job makes me feel a little better about myself (I was a full time nanny and now the mom is a stay-at-home so I wasn't needed anymore). I'd like to start using my rebounder now, too. My new goal... REBOUND!

I'm taking Angel for a 1 hr walk. It's really like getting a good 30 minutes though because we have to stop so many times so Angel (doggie) can sniff every single scent that she catches wind of:D

Later, I'm going to the gym to do some weight training stuff...My body is definitely having to adjust to the weight machines again. I was just doing some stuff at home. I figure I'd try the machines out as I want to target these stubborn and resistant to change areas; I might throw in 20 minutes of cardio and a 10 minute sit in the sauna just to sweat out some toxins...

Wow, I made it through the first week of October exercising every day! :) Since I signed up for yoga a month ago, last week was my first week going 5 days straight-which was my goal! I even went to 2 of the all-levels classes, which is the harder of the 2 types offered. I am so sore though. I will probably be even more sore tomorrow because of today's exercise. I might have to take a day or two off to recover. I have to make sure to get right back as soon as I feel better though. I'll just wait and see how I feel tomorrow.

Everyone is doing a great job! I am surprised how much exercise everyone can do while eating all raw. (I'm still transitioning and I have to un-condition my mind from thinking lots of cooked animal proteins are necessary when exercising). It encourages me to try to eat all raw while doing the same exercise routine.

Since its been so long since I've exercised, I get sore a lot. What do you all do for muscle soreness/recovery? I think eating protein like raw hemp powder helps, but I need something more. I can't wait to be in shape enough that I won't get sore after every time I do something.

Good luck to everyone on week 2! Keep working hard!:)

OK--I've really been lazy! But I started back on track today. Worked out on the weight machine I have at home--isn't that sad? I don't even have to leave the house~! Anyway, did leg presses, which really help my lower back, and worked upper body and arms. Even did some crunches. Worked out for almost 30 minutes. It felt so good to exercize again. Makes my body feel so much better. And exercizing helps my eating stay in check. Don't want to blow it and waste that sweat! I'M BACK!!!

Didn't do anything yesterday; Sundays are usually rest days unless I need to make-up for something...

Today it's just going to be something simple after class - walking

Okay so remember my theory I'm working on...so far it's proving me wrong. I'm officially back at 150 which I guess is a 5 lb gain from the 145 initially. Okay...well I'll just see what this Sunday brings...I think my body will have adjusted to the re-introduction to foods by then.

I need to do intervals of walking and running and work my way up slowly since I have asthma. But I did tell my friend I would train for a 65 mile bike ride that she does every year. It's at the beginning of April. Women only - called the Cinderella ride. Everyone dresses silly and the prince charmings (men) provide the food at the rest stops. But maybe one day I'll do some sort of duathalon or a tri. Who knows.

NYButterfly: SF is a cool town. Have you ever heard of Bay to Breakers? Usually teams all dress in a theme and push some sort of matching float. The serious runners kick it off, but most people walk. So fun!

After rebounding, walking w/co-worker, and mowing the yards yesterday, I wasn't sure I'd be able to move today! But I did the rebounder this morning. My knee kind of went hinkey on my so I quit and worked out on the weight machine instead--leg presses and upper body. Will walk again this afternoon with co-workers on the trail behind my work. It's really paying off. I'm seeing a difference in weight and stamina. Don't know if it's connected, but I'm really into vegs, esp. greens. Not so much fruits or nuts right now. I did my 17 mile bike ride. And we stopped at the raw cafe half way through to get a shake. Mmm. :D It turned out to be another gorgeous day even though it poured rain yesterday...so glad I got out and exercised in the fresh air for a couple hours.

Ren: Welcome. You're so active! I love that so many people on here do bikram yoga.

Hi everyone,

My lower back is SO tight from the cable rows on Friday coupled with the ride yesterday (you lean forward a lot on road bikes). I'm taking today off...but there is maybe a 2% chance I'll hit yoga if I am free then. I'm pretty happy with my 5 days of exercise this week! My goal is Mon-Wed next week. I'll be in Mexico on vacation thurs-sun so hopefully I'll get 1 workout in there as well.

Happy Happy Joy Joy!

I've missed everyone. My computer connection problem still hasn't been solved. I had to make time to get online and say hello to everyone. I've been missing out on checking in on a daily basis. I haven't had time to even jump online at work either. I'm still rawking it. I'm still working on my goal of eventually arriving at about 140 and seeing how I feel there...

I hope everyone else is still rawking it and doing well. I guess I need to check out the threads I've been missing.

Today is Tuesday (strength traiining on arms/quads/calves/chest/back/abs)
30 minutes of brisk walking

Take care Everyone..........

My husband and I are continuing to do those daily exercises twice a day for a total of an hour and twenty minutes every day. Three days a week I also have therapy for two hours except one day it is water therapy for an hour. So far it looks as though I have lost about 15 or so pounds since the stroke in March. Hard to tell cause standing on the scales I am a bit wobbly and fully dressed. Life continues to be very frustrating. I am not progressing with my walking as fast as I or my husband wants, either. I am doing a lousy job of transitioning to the cane even though it has four prongs for stability. It feels as though I am going to fall over. Don't have my center of gravity back yet.

Thanks for your comment.

I won't give up cause there is so much I still want to do. The weight WILL come off but not as rapidly as I want it to. My balance WILL get better, too.

My hubby fixed a really good smoothie today and I added some fresh coconut milk from the coconut I bought the other day! Sure tastes good. I haven't had fresh in the shell coconut for many years, probably close to 30. Now hope I don't gain a bunch of weight!

I am counting on the raw foods diet to help me heal and lose weight. My hubby is finally understanding that I don't want and will not eat any more meat and cooked foods although he does still ask while holding a plate full of food. The raw idea has not come to roost there yet.

I am very thankful for all the recipes and support that I have been given.

I've been working double shifts at work (I'm a nurse aide) and so I've not posted all weekend. I really did not exercise either because I was so tired but I figure the constant walking, squatting, lifting, etc. made up for it. What I DID do was meditate. My job is very emotionally taxing because you are caring and loving many people who are about to cross over shall we say. I didn't eat raw 100% but I tried to get as many fruits into my body as was available.

Thursday and friday I was so proud of myself for doing an hour of intense exercise. Ten minutes of cardio dance and 45 minutes of calisthenics. I am going to count two 16 hour days as exercise because I felt I had run the half marathon I did earlier this year. Monday I rested and today well...not exercised yet but I'm going to train my arms with weights. No cardio dance tonight. Oh well maybe if i feel like it. My husband is sick and would love the entertainment!

If anything let me be a testament that raw IS the way to go....For those of you who remember me as nfRAW runner I have "re-made" myself into nfracer and am crawling out of the black hole I was sucked into last April when I became disillusioned with raw food and my health in general. I humbly say that I am back with a vengeance to forge the raw trail again. I had been raw 20 months up until last April....things went ok throughout the summer with pendulam swings of raw/not raw/somewhat raw....you get the drift....Then, on Sept. 12th I underwent surgery to remove the metal hardware that had served it's purpose of healing my broken femoral neck (January, '05) and have been backsliding ever since.....I am now able to work out again but could not get a handle on my spiraling out of control food issues...I seemed to be eating everything in sight to offset the "blues" following my surgery......This weekend was the icing on the cake (literally) and I decided Monday was the day....so as of 9/22 I have been 100% raw once more....the first couple of days have been rough but I am perking up! I can't tell you enough how helpful it is to have your support my raw friends! Rawfigure & Morn, you are the ones getting me going again did ya know that? Keep talking to me! Morn I am amazed at your transformation! You should change your name to butterfly because baby you have come WAAAAY out of that cocoon! RF, you just amaze me anyway! Someday we will reconnect again! Thanks so much for your kind words! If it weren't for you and carrying this thread I don't think I would have gotten there. Today’s exercise:

30 minutes of rebounding/abs

Ok I was able to squeeze in a little exercise today between drinking the laxative drink I had consume twice for my colonoscopy tomorrow. I have had to stay close by to the bathroom all day if you know what I mean and that also included fasting today. So needless to say today wasn't a lot of fun and I am hungry. So my exercise will be limited for the next week as I will be recovering from the surgery. I will be glad to have this behind me. I look at it all as a consequence of my bad eating habits I used to have before I went raw. Anyways thanks for all of your prayers for my mother in law and me!:)

Today I had my surgery and I ended up getting sick from the anesthesia for the colonoscopy portion so for the actual hemorrhoid surgery I had them do a spinal. I am glad this is behind me but now I am wiped out and in pain and just need to rest and take it easy. I do have pain killers and I will use them to help me along the next few days. The weird part is I feel like I have to go to the bathroom but can’t go. I don’t have anything left in my system so I am sure I won’t have a bm for at least another day. The doctor still wanted me on liquids today so following surgery they gave me some cranberry juice to see if I would get sick and when I got home I had some pomegranate juice. Anyway thanks for your prayers! Morn:D

I am just checking in with this thread. I haven't visited it for awhile. I have not met all of my exercise goals, but I am making some progress.

The first week of October I made it to 5 yoga classes, the second week I only made it to 2 because I was sore from overexercising the first week. Last week I made it to 4 classes. I missed a day because I felt sick. This week I made it to 3 classes, then I didn't feel well the past 2 days. I am planning on finishing the month off well with all 3 weekdays next week and hopefully the first 2 days in November.

My goal for yoga is to go 5 days a week-all the weekdays. I did progress to the harder of the 2 levels offered, but sometimes I still take the beginners class when I need to take it easy.

I want to start walking more in November. I didn't walk as much as I planned to this month, but I did have a few good days. Most of the days I only got about half as many pedometer steps as I wanted to.

Only 1 day I did my strength and cardio exercises. I think I just want to stick to yoga and walking for now though. It's hard to add a lot of new stuff at once. At least I'm not getting sore as much as I did when I first started exercising at the beginning of September.

Well, I hope everyone else has had a good October. Hopefully we can all continue to do even better next month!

I am continuing on with my rehab exercises with my husband. We spend about 45 minutes twice a day with exercises for a daily total of 1 and a half hours. In addition, there is the rehab stuff for two hours twice a week and one hour in the pool. I have lost over 20 pounds! This morning I weighed in at 203 down from 224 in March and just before I had the stroke! My clothes are getting a bit loose! That is good!

Staying mostly raw with sometimes just a bite or two of cooked. Probably close to 95% raw overall. I can hardly wait to see where I will be by the end of November.

I am using the four-pronged cane every day now, but just not all the time yet. Hopefully I will be able to use it when I need to go do the shopping soon so I can put away the wheelchair and/or the walker! So far I am only able to use the cane for fairly short distances.

:D I actually slept in until 8 o'clock today! That is HUGE for me as I get up at 3 a.m. every day....When my alarm went off this am at 3 I realized today was not a hectic rushed day so I turned it off! {RF aren't you proud of me you know how I am!!!} Anyway when I did get up my kIds and I made a HUGE fruit salad for breakfast and then I juiced the scraps + other stuff for my juice for the week. Then 2 of my boys and I went and worked out at the gym for a couple of hours + went to get our pumpkins! I have had a great and relaxing day! I wish every day could be this stress free! I don't know how it'll turn out but I added carrot pulp (from my juicing) and pureed bananas to the leftover fruit salad and made it into "fruit pizzas" which are currently dehydrating! It looks great, I'll have to tell you tomorrow how it turns out!!!

I am pleased to say I have managed 100% raw without a hitch for the entire week! I have logged 45 miles this week too! My goal is to get back to 50+ weekly + cross-train (including swimming)....I am losing my GAINED weight slowly but surely! I still can't believe I "let myself go" like that but I know that if I stay raw and true to myself it will peel off yet again! I gained it fast so hopefully I will lose it fast too! I have lost 5 this week alone but have 12 to go!!!!! Happy work outs everyone! I will start a "role call" on this thread and post a "Thankful for Exercise" November fitness challenge!.........

November is just around the corner my friends! Many of us have teetered on the edge of reaching our goals....This November lets commit to DO IT!!!! You don't have to post every day but you should strive to work out every other day or every day.....If 20 minutes is all you can do, do it!!!! Post your trials and tribulations! We are here for you!!!! Please reply if you are in for the November challenge..I am posting a few days early so those of you pondering from the sidelines will jump right in!!!! [/SIZE]

I am here to be the first one to say, I am by no means perfect. I have been at both ends of the spectrum of fitness. Recently I have been "away" from the forum and raw food.....17 pounds later and not feeling great I am back to say I need my RF friends and raw food! I am recovering from surgery which also set me back fitness wise. However,

NOVEMBER is going to be the month I get back to my A game!!! Won't you join me!!! If so HOLLER "I"!!!!!!

I suspect that at least until I am walking again and driving the van that I will continue on with the monthly exercise challenge. I also intend to lose weight as I gain back my strength. It is one way for me to document what I will be doing anyway.

I am here - thanks for everyone's thoughts and prayers. I went back to work today and since 11:30 yesterday morning haven't been on anything for pain. I figured the side effects from the pain medication were far worse than the pain itself. I haven't had a BM yet and I am stressing out over it because I know it will be painful. I have already tried to go a few times and nothing. I had my wonderful medamucil this morning and decided to venture back into raw eating so right now I am eating my lunch (a salad with no nuts). I am not sure if it is a good idea or not but I didn't want to be off of my normal diet for too long cause I don't want to get used to eating sad for too long. I think I will be ok if I just stay away from the nuts. If you all could continue to keep my digestive issues in your prayers I would appreciate it. :o (at least til things return back to normal - I guess I totally underestimated this procedure). Also I won't be doing anything in the exercise areana at least for a few more days but I am in for November! No hibernation for us exercise folk! Thank you NFracer for getting us motivated for November!

Ok guys still please keep me in your prayers. Today was disaster and I ended up missing work so I could stay close to the bathroom. I had been constipated, taking tons, of products like stool softners, milk of magnesia, etc. I have tried to follow the doctors orders to eat soft things (which mostly not raw) cause he thought a lot of raw fruits and veggies would be to difficult to digest and pass. So here I am a wreck. I finally ended up going a bit tonight for the first time but I literally thought I was going to die. It is so painful and stressful. All I can say is I thought I was birthing a alien. Sorry for all the details but I am a mess. I did eat some raisens today and asked for the DH to pick me up some prunes. I feel like a bit of a whiner but all I can say is if it keeps me in your thoughts and prayers I need them. I can't keep going on like this. Ok and 0 in the exercise department today again. Hopefully I can recover by the weekend enough to get it moving again.

BIG HUG..I will pray for you, that you find comfort ..soon and fast ! eat the prunes, grapefruit gets me going. It is odd the Dr sai fruit is hard to digest. I find it the easist. Drs. ..

I have been doing cardio and weight training and I am still feeling the difference in my energy now that I am lifting more.Tired !!! Also I am hungry, something I am not used too ! Unfortunately I had a few cooked foods. I need to eat more RAW food now that i increased the weights, or I cave !

Morn:( -pears are very easy to digest and more "laxative" than apples....anesthesia constipates you badly as do painkillers+ you have been raw for so long cooked (albeit minimal) food or a change in diet will also "bind you up" Drink extra water as you may be dehydrated as well. Fluids will help get you moving.....Do you drink tea? Yogi makes a "get regular" tea that works like a charm! I feel so bad for you----Good luck!

I will start the November thread next!!!!!! "November Fitness Boot Camp" is going to be the title!!!!!! Let's get moving!!!!! "sign up there"

Hi Morn,

Are you having green smoothies? The fiber in there should help get things moving? Sending healing vibes and happy thoughts your way! Rest and feel better - don't worry too much about the rest.

I went to the gym yesterday. Didn't really feel like being there so I just did legs and abs but skipped calves and then 15 minutes on the stair climber.

Hey Peeps...

Looking forward to the November challenge and really digging and picking up the slack in some my exercise goals.

Morn-
God's blessings to you. I can only imagine how difficult it must be adjusting to this...try to be still and just let your body heal...so much easier said than done. I hope that things will "pass" on through with ease soon - I know that feeling and that is definitely NO JOKE......

We are thinking about ya.....

ohhhh sweet Morn... I'm so sorry you have been going thru it... blessings dear Morn....

okay... here's what I do when I've had difficulties...

your hfs will have capsules of CASCARA SAGRADA.... it is a natural herb that is non habit forming and stimulates the peristatlic action of the colon - encouraging a normal bowel movement....

I had surgery done many years ago where they took a portion of my hip bone.... to place in my spine. They must've cut something cuz since that surgery - I've had difficulites....the cascara sagrada has been a godsend...
