Hi
I just started Bikram and am loving it . My 4th straight day today.
I feel wonderful and energized finally!
In his book he recommends 2 months daily and then cut down to 3 or more times per week. So that is what I plan to do.
I sure could use some support though:D
So if any Yogi lol wants to join me for October I would love you forever:D
P.s. I am 45 days raw and have lost 36lbs to date and mega inches from 4 classes lol

Count me in! I found a wonderful little yoga studio near me and have been going to a few classes recently. I don't think it's Bikram but it's yoga:O)
So how does this work? Do we practice yoga everyday?

Mind you having said that, I do not want anyone to hurt themselves so please listen to your body and if it needs a day off respect that.:D
Ready set go
Yea October!!!

I do yoga at home now, but only a couple of times a week. Do you all do any cardio in addition to bikram? I feel like I need to get some cardio in addition to my yoga. I only have about an hour a day to work out, so I walk/jog 2x a week then do yoga 2x a week. Also, are there any good bikram videos? I have the poses printed out, but I would like to see them in action and can't afford classes. They cost about $20 each by me too, unless you buy a package then the price goes down a little (I am in southern California).

Hello, about the same I'd guess.
I paid for the year which is about $100.00 a month and I go 5 times plus a week so it ends up being about $5.00 per 90 min class
This was the only way I could afford it lol:eek:

Yes, do feel better soon and take care of yourself!
I have been keeping up with the bikram every day and feel great! Since it's really my only form of excercise, I am posting on the days that I do it on the october excercise challenge thread, this way I don't have to write the same thing in 2 different threads. Keep up all the good work guys!

I will try the introductory week for $20 *(at Bikram Union Sq,NY) , then after that do Bikram at home (if I like it). I don't like that most places don't allow you to leave the room until the class is over. What if I need to use the restroom? :p Any recommendations for good Bikram dvds?

I don't do the Bikram yoga but at the gym, 24 hour fitness, I take advantage of about 5-6 days per week of 60 tough minutes. I have been doing Yoga now for 2 months. Wow, what a workout, but I still do cardio using machines at gym. The combo plus having a trainer for gym has worked miracles to my body "reshaping."
I also gave up nuts and that has helped bunches too.
I have been dividing my workout as well into 2x day, but all I have is "time on my side" without a job.
My trainer totally believes in the cardio being necessary for me so I am a good listener.

I have been doing cardio twice a week, then yoga twice a week. That is all the time I have right now, and I feel it is important to do both.

Brikman is cardio lol:eek:
I do Brikman
regular Yoga
Pilates
and mix it up with gym classes ( Latino cardio etc,)
and when my rebounder arrives i week add 20 min of that a day

I am just doing power yoga, not bikram, that is why the addition of cardio. Until I can take a class or get a video to determine the length of holding poses and breathing and all that I will continue with power for now.

Good stuff :)
but even if you buy a book or video if you can take just 1 actual class it will really help you judge, especially the heat level lol. It's hot and humid :D

Bikram yoga does involve cardio but not nearly to the extent of jogging, cycling, kickboxing, aerobics etc. You acheive a medium range heart rate for short periods followed by relaxation. Most of the last half of the class your heat rate doesn't even get into the medium zone. This is great for people that haven't done any cardio at all in the past but adding one or two extra workouts involving a higher sustained heart rate will be very effective in addition to the regular yoga practice.

lol thanks for the advice:D but if you read my earlier post I do Cardio latino which is 40 min of cardio twice a week, in addition to Brikman and regular Yoga and am adding 20 min of rebounding when my rebounder arrives.
I started out at 200plus pounds and as I am dropping the weight and am getting into shape, I am stepping up my game plan.:)
If I had done true cardio at the beginning I would have broken my nose with my boobs or dropped dead of a heart attack he he:eek:
