I won't be getting Alissa's book until tuesday, but I'm not totally new to raw and have read about 10 other books on raw. I have struggled to be 100% until this past week, when I actually started making recipes like raw brownies, raw hummus, raw goddess salad dressing and even trying raw tacos, TONS of raw crackers, etc. I just cannot IMAGINE that I will lose weight on these foods. The calorie and fat content is out of this world! I am too scared to step on a scale. I know it doesn't matter in the beginning, as long as it's raw, your body does its own thing, blah blah blah. But really... all this fat and calories can slim me down? Because green smoothies and fruit all day were not doing the trick. Any proof? Anyone?

i find that if i go either high fat OR high fruit/smoothies i lose. if i don't get enough fat though, i overeat. the fats that help me lose are avocados and anything coconut. nuts make me gain.

A LOT of people have and do! Alissa's book will show you through many inspirational testimonials and before and afters that her plan WORKS!

I lost, though I didn't have a WHOLE lot to lose...look at people like shine72 who posts her weigh-ins weekly (used to be weekly, now it'll be monthly) in the raw challenge threads. People can and do lose weight. No, you don't have to consume TONS of fat daily...you eat as simply as you want and then when you want or "need" a little something "more" then you have the option to have it.

I had gone on a cooked binge at one time and put on almost every pound I lost. Got back to eating all raw and I lost every single pound by eating 1 or 2 slices of chocolate mousse pie (which has a nut-based crust, cashews and avocado in the filling) along with any fruit, veggies, smoothies, ice cream, etc that I ate.

You really will be inspired and motivated once you get her book and see for yourself that Alissa addresses so many of the very concerns that people express here on the forum, including weight loss and what to do. Just be prepared to be enlightened a little bit more although you may not be new to raw or raw books! ;)

Thanks so much:)

I definitely have faith, but am so eager to figure out my body's wants and needs after a lifetime of ignoring it and keeping it on a restrictive diet. I know everyone is a bit different. Some lose weight on high fruit low fat, others lose weight on low fruit, high fats and veggies. I just wish I knew what the secret is for my own body to lose weight. I don't have much to lose... about 10 pounds. Will I still lose the weight or will my body hang on to it bc it is in a "healthy" weight range for my hight? I want to know!!!! Agh!

Can't wait for my saving grace, Alissa's book, to be in my hands at long last!

you know i didn't really make many recipes at first, but i sure did eat a lot of bananas (used to be my horror dreams during the low-carb stage of my life) and NUTS! (i tend to overeat, so i ate quite a bit)....

and yet i have lost weight while i didn't even intend to. it's just great, living food..... every body is different of course and you can find what works for you in terms of weight loss... have faith and congrats on deciding to go raw!!! :D :D :D

You have to remember that plant based fats do NOT work in the same capacity as animal based fats. That is one reason why Alissa has stated before (I know it's in one of the RR podcasts) that you can't follow the medical model with raw foods. HTH!:D

i know i am new but i really 2nd that...what stresses me out about this whole gig is it goes against so much of what i have been told and i cant fit in with family and frineds cos i am always the odd one out.FRUSTRATES ME.

its not that i cant do thsi way of eating, i can, even though i dont always enjoy it... its just that i am sick of people asking questions about where ar you getting your x from and where are you getting your y from?. last time i went raw i got far far far too thin. and yet people were saying you look amazing... what did you do. when i told them they would have to give up junk food...and it was a very high discipline way of eating which was raw live organic vegan foods...they all said ugh...the daggers were out again an suddenly i was too thin in their eyes. before, when they thought it was a regualr weight loss diet, i had looked stunning and like a model to them. this is really a health thing. i have so many questions to ask but to you, you gorgeous woman, i would say follow the book an what you fancy. weight loss or gain will be yours accordingly xx

Alissa's book is proof. When you get it you'll see.

When I was eating nothing but almond butter and green apples, (about 1 jar in three days), I lost about 30 pounds!! I did this for about two months.

Well I have followed Allissa's book regime to the letter and am now 45 days raw and have lost 36ilbs total, eating fats nuts breads and all.:)

I eat like a little piglet some days way more than when eating sad diet and some days crave very little. and I am still loosing.

The key is I think follow and trust Allissa's recommendations and do not sweat the small stuff. ( exercise to lol)

Friends will support when they see your results, after all for doubters, seeing is believing.

I don't mention to anyone the changes I am making until they say, " wow Lisa what are you doing , you look great" and then I explain about my Raw. At events I eat what I can and don't make a big thing of it and no one seems to notice that I am eating only raw. People are very self centered and never seem to even notice if I don't spotlight myself. I didn't for example take alcohol at the last B.B.Q and no one noticed. Or that I eat only the salads either he he

Your are doing this for you:D
Having said that your life changes and how you feel about yourself impact everyone around you at some point:D

Just stay raw and listen to your body. You will figure out the best approach for you. The most important thing to do for now is to stay satisfied and always have lots of yummy food around.

I lost 80lb effortlessly on raw. If I can do it, anyone can!!

Blessings,

I have lost a lot of weight eating raw foods and exercising (and I eat it all - recipes with nuts, raw desserts, etc). But I will say you still need to listen to your body and eat only when you are truely hungry and if you have weight to still lose you will lose it.:D

How long did it take you to gain on cooked foods almost every pound you lost raw? How long did it take to lose it once you began eating raw again?

 I only lose weight if I do liquid fast w/ a few fruits if I am starving, maybe 1-2 at most. Everyone is different. My Met is slow and more than that I have a slow digestive system, I like digestive Bile, so for me no solid food+weight loss !! Try is 100 % raw for awhile and in time your body will guide you. I struggled two years to lose 5 pounds, eating little, alot, hi, low fat...you name it...fast a few times and off the pds go. Go figure  .

Hi CaliRaw,

I'm not really sure...but it wasn't long either way...didn't take very long to gain it and seems like I lost it even quicker...like maybe a week's time or so.

This is the easiest weight loss and health gain I have ever experienced. I have been all raw for 61 days now and I'm not looking back. I feel like my motor is revved up and going strong.

Don't worry, I'll be careful!

Thanks Trinity, you seem to be proof that raw does work... what results you've had! I have faith in the raw food lifestyle (going strong so far and feeling great) but not much faith in myself. Just want to drop the 10 pounds so I can button my jeans again, they are soooo tight:(

Relax, enjoy, exercise, allow your body to tell you what it wants... and listen. Your body will go to the weight it is designed to be at.

Or something like that. :D

I have never had BIG problems with my weight (although as a preteen/early teen I was not healthy and bigger than is good for me... I was very unhappy then too, think that's why. We were also eating a lot of processed foods then.)... but on raw, the "pooch" on my belly disappeared. I'd say I'm about 10 pounds thinner based on how I look.

Turns out I'm not though. I just went to the lady doctor, and I'm exactly the same weight I was the last time I was there, but it just looks and feels better in my clothes. And that means I have lots fat but not muscle it seems.

I eat lots of coconut and avocado, lots of desserts with nuts and dates, lots of green smoothies. Not feeling deprived.

When you get the book, have fun with it! Try the desserts! Go Crazy! :D Enjoy!
