Does anyone make or has anyone made a green smoothie using Mellon ? How did it work for you ? Did you experience any bloat or digestion problems ? I love Mellon smoothies and would like to add some greens if this looks like an OK idea. Responses appreciated. :)

From a food combining point of view, isn't melon supposed to be eaten on it's own because of how quickly it is digested? I'm sure I read that in Alissa's book ... all the same ... I love melon and I bet the smoothies taste fab :)

Victoria Boutenko includes recipes with melon in green smoothies. I have not had any problems when adding greens to melon smoothies. If you're not sure, just make a small one first and see how you feel.

i havent had any problems with it either- i use watercress b/c i would rather taste the fruit than the greens. watercress is mild and i use honeydew with this smoothie.

watercress is mild and i use honeydew with this smoothie.A honeydew melon / watercress smoothie sounds RAWlicious, I will have to try this. Thanks . . . :)
I've done it and it works for me although the light taste of cantaloupe becomes even more subtle when I combine it with greens and other fruits. LOVE melon smoothies alone though, esp cantaloupe! :)

i take the seeds from the honeydew and add water to them to make a "mylk" (use a milk bag for the seeds)
then i cut up the melon and make a smoothie out of both
it is soooooooooooooooooooooooooo lovely

a watermelon & spinach smoothie tops my list of favorites right now (and for the past month or so)!

I've used frozen melons (watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, etc.) in my smoothies and never have had any problems. But I agree, make a small one, see how you do, then if okay, you're good to go.
I was on a mint kick a few weeks ago and made a honeydew/mint smoothie. But I, uh, went kinda nuts with the mint? It tasted like an altoid smoothie! It WAS good though.

My favorite green smoothie is watermelon spinach. I have never had any problems with digestion. I don't have a particularly sensitive digestive system though.

I bought a cantaloupe per request from one of my kids and just tonight I was eying it for tomorrow's smoothie. I felt all guilty, I think I need to buy a couple for me. :p

I started my day again with a melon green smoothie and all I can say is: "They Light My Fire". Melon green smoothies agree with my body and fuel it really well. I like starting my day this way. Today I made a cantaloupe / celery tops (greens) smoothie and it tasted great and I feel energized. :)

For the past couple of weeks, I've been eating a cantaloupe for breakfast. I bought 5 yesterday with the intention of using them in smoothies. The question was perfect timing because I wondered if there would be any food combining issues. I guess there still could be (for me) since everyone is different. We shall see.

My food combining comment references Alissa's book "Living on Live Food" ISBN 09748963-0-6 page 82.
I had only just read that part of the book when this thread came up so it was fresh in my mind.

I have always heard and practiced the idea that melons should be eaten separately from other foods because of its fast digesting but now I am thinking that when the food has been pulverized by my vita-mix then it becomes very easy to digest and thats why its working just fine for me. I appreciate that everyone is different and it may not work well for everyone but my personal experiences with green smoothies has caused me to give them the green light.

it might be kinda hard on the tummy if you blend it with kale or collards or somthing (i dont have vitamix thgouh so my results are different). sprouts problly would be fine.

During the summer, here in hot sunny Florida, I made a lot of watermelon smoothies. Here area few combinations I enjoyed; Watermelon Romaine with a splash of lemon juice, Watermelon Strawberry Cilantro with lime juice, Watermelon Blueberry and whatever greens I could find (we had a freezer full of watermelon and blueberries)
I have tried cantaloupe but prefer to just eat it!
