I followed Rawkinlocks' choc chip recipie to a tee....but it turned out all watery and not at all like a dough. SO, I added more cashew and oatflour only to find it then wasn't sweet enough, so I added more agave, which made it too watery again to mold into a dough..... So, I added some stevia after adding more cashew flour....Then I dropped the dough (still too sticky to form into balls) onto teflex then put them in the dehydrator. My questions...

1. By putting the cookies in the dehdrator, won't that melt the coconut oil in the chips and the cookies therefore making them even more runny? How long to dehydrate and at what temp?

2. Please explain why my dough was so sticky??

Thanks a million!!

Greenlife,

It's been a while since I made that recipe...but I recall that it wasn't a "firm" dough...it was moreso kinda sticky...more like a batter I'd say. I just spooned it out onto the teflex and kinda shaped into cookie shape with the spoon (I "think"...again it's been a while since I made those.

Ummm...about the chips, yeah they melted but to me, that was what made them so "SAD-like"! :) You could dehydrate them and then store in the fridge. Even after dehydrating them, they were soft and gooey...I loved them but perhaps you may want to just stick to the original recipe as Mysticat posted them and roll into balls and refrigerate. That may work out better for you, texture-wise...don't even dehydrate them at all.

OR...you could also consider chilling the dough mixture and THEN try to shape them, roll them, etc. Chilling it first should make it easier to work with.

woah ... you really do have a problem there. I'd have to see the recipe to figure it out. I change everthing so am pretty adept at getting results and would like to help you. Can you post a link to the recipe to keep me from having to go hunting.

* never mind Rawkinlocs found you first.

Thanks, both of you!

Rawkinlocks, I've already got them on the dehydrator. Should I just take them off, freeze the batter, then roll out and re freeze or just continue dehydrating them. BTW, what temp did you dry them at.

I just ate a cookie that I froze. It is SO good that way so I think I'll just freeze some and dehydrate some, and see which ones I like better. Unless anyone can come up with another way to use the dough.

Thanks Rawkinlocks for that recipie. It is very very good.

Whenever i've dehydrated them they turn into a tasty melty mess which i then have to refridgerate, so i think that they are more of a fridge cookie.

just form them into balls or whatever without overworking them and put them in the fridge and the coconut oil will solidify pretty quickly.

If you like your chocolate chip cookies warm and pull apart gooey keep them in. That's what I'd do. In fact may look up the recipe and do just that. I have a sad friend who just loves to break a cookie and see the chocolate pull in a string before breaking, just makes her day. They can always be refrigerated after drying if that doesn't appeal to you.

You're the boss! :)

Thank you Doe and Calamity.

Doe, I like that idea of a soft, chocolatey pull apart cookie. I'm leaving the rest of them in the dehydrator. Thanks.
