There was a very short thread that was posted in the general discussion area - but the thread was closed.
The moderators will start the October challenge thread when October arrives, probably a day b4 (or so) you will see a sign up thread, and then an area where you can log in daily ....
no worries - you can jump in at any time on the challenges!! ;) If you look on the main directory of RFT... you will see about halfway down a monthly challenge section.. I'm sure that's where yu will find the October challenge sign up!
blessings -- look forward to being on the challenge with you!
RAWK ON!!

viva... I'm so excited for you! You're going to do great! ;)
Challenges used to be started a few days early - getting everyone pumped up and involved, but this last month (September) - there was a change and it was decided that the moderators would start the Monthly 30 day challenge threads .... :D
you're not going nuts!! http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/RollingEyes.gif
The raw foods really help yu release all your 'old cravings'... it will take time - just trust the process and give yourself the time you need (and it's different for each of us...) plus - there's a lot of amazing foods to replace many things that you might miss... like raw breads, crackers ... stuff like that!
You're gunna do great viva... blessings on your journey!

viva... have you started your own blog yet in the journaling section? Its a great way to connect with other rawbies, talk about what you're feeling and follow the experiences of others going thru the same thing as you...
You'll find a lot of support there, along with alot of laughter, it's an area where you can discuss just about anything... !!
to start a blog - look above and you'll see a green line ... on it you will see the words...
UserCP ... FAQ .... MembersList .... Calendar .... BLOGGING!!! (click on the arrow to the right of the word blogging - and a drop down menu will appear) go to 'create new entry'...
it think this will take you to the page where you can set up your own blog and begin recording your journey!
rawk on vivadiva!! hope to see you there!

YES NOW THAT IS WHAT IS INTERESTING TO ME...
see before all i ate was fruit and veg raw a few seeds but there was no 'bread' (raw of course, or raw crackers, or raw pizza, or raw cheese or whatever,no raw chocoalte or even dried fruit...i think i was doing a real purist version it weas kinda hard work... it was kinda more boring than this looks...but i did it for 2 years BABY so i can do this
now, i just bought the BOOK, alissa's book, so i got a good reference point at last (manage to get a friend to ship it to me for cheaper so...i am psyched
i am so excited i actually feel fantastic though i am sick right now!)
i am lsitening to totally gorgeous pumping music and getting really into it xx:D

i just had my 1st one (green smoothie) and i am clearly doing something wrong... as it wasnt very good.two bananas, a punnet of strawberries, ice and a packet of rocket...served about 4 (i had two)i have a blood sugar hit going on already
how can you do 60/40% by weight when rocket is so much lighter than banana and strawberries for example???
i am going for it and already having a hit from the fruit...nasty...dizziness... sudden onset of anxiety symptoms...hope its not just me...and that someone can help....wonder what can be done about that xx
this problem is partly what stopped me last time i went raw, i felt so unwell throughout the diet cos of the blood sugar thing...i have done everything right so far and feel grim xx

Hey VIVA-DIVA
Welcome,
I'm going to do the October Challenge too! My very first time.:)
I started in August and has taken me the last 2 months to prepare, although I've only had 2 servings of delicious 7 grain bread, and a bowl of chili, that was not raw the whole 2 months. But the mental thought of never having a piece of bread again is overwhelming for me at times.
I'll be looking forward to starting with you on monday!!

HiYa'
Have I got good news for you! I eat a lot of raw chocolate now; it's truly delicious and, unlike, the sugary processed crap, it's actually satisfying. Don't hesitate to dive into raw desserts. After a short period of time of indulging, your body will actually want more greens and veges, but even the desserts are nourishing. I digest them fine and don't end up all bloated the next day like SAD sweets.
But what on earth is rocket?

Rocket is a type of salad leaf that is peppery in taste.

I couldn't do green smoothies like I read about when I started either.
I needed to stay away from all fruit for a long time.
I had to learn to do green drinks which can get nasty quickly. I would mix fruits like tomato and cucumber and also avocado. I could not put healthy things like flax in - it always came out nasty for me.
I am at risk for diabetes and have many of the precursor symptoms including weight gain especially around the middle and extremely high testosterone and cholesterol. . . and so on. . . . but I am eating fruit now. . . . .pretty much only in my smoothies. . . . but it took a long time before I was ready to have fruit and some days it still seems like too much . . . . . however there is a strange chemistry when I add fruit to my green drinks - the addition of the fruit makes them keep much longer. . . . . I don't know why.
edit: I would like to know where in the US you get "rocket". I have never heard of it but might like to try - but not in a smoothie. . . . LOL

Arugala is my favorite green next to spinach. Can hardly ever find it and it is $5 for a mouthful when I do.
