Since my hormones are dangerously out of balance I am wondering if anyone has any evidence of raw balancing them out over time or any other suggestions. High testosterone and low progesterone. Don't know about the estrogen yet.

Hey there girl...!! howzit?
well... luckitri... my last normal cycle was about 6 years ago. Since then I had suffered from fairly typical menopause symptoms and just prior to going raw - I still had symptoms and intense hot flashes etc...

since going 100% raw 6 months ago - all menopause symptoms have stopped. ALL... every last one of them. I dont' take any hormone replacement stuff.... and really - I dont' do anything special. I just eat a lot of simple salads, occasionally something a little fancy - like Alissa's enchiladas, I don't eat a lot of fruit - due to allergies - I do eat a hi fat menu (coconut oil 2 to 3 times a day plus I will also eat avocados when I can get them). I dont eat a lot of nuts.

and -- I drink lots and lots of water...

I dunno if I"m a typical rawbie or not - but that's my experience.... :D

I believe raw has really helped me with menopause!

Thanks. I feel like I am eating alot of fruit because of the green smoothies. Since my testosterone is super high and I am still young yet and then a local health guru's wife just had a stroke - I got very concerned.

Over 50, and now post menopausal... its been a year. But let me tell you, once I started eating the fruits, veggies and raw stuff I have gone from being a very hot, flashing, hot tamale to cool as a cucumber and comfortable. My OB was telling me about the benefits of some sort of HRT at my last visit. (Only because I was going through some real bad stuff at the time.) I had made my mind up early on that I would not take it.

I will get a flash or two ... but rarely now. Consider your health history and all that goes with it. Discuss thoroughly what you are doing now, what your plans are, and always get more than one opinion. Its your body!!! ;)

Starfire, Out of curiousity, why do you eat a high fat diet?

I'm impressed that a lot of your symptoms of those who posted went away immediately on raw. It took me three months on raw before my hot flashes and night sweats subsided.

I claim to have my own built in barometer that tell me if a food is raw or not and it is called the "hot flash".
Within 3 weeks of going raw all of my menopause symptoms ware gone. If I eat cooked food I will revert to my former ways and wake up al least 6 times during the night.
I am in no doubt that raw cures menopause.

I don't know, sport. I do believe everyone is different. Afterall, it took 3 months of 100% raw before my symptoms subsided, and even now, I still have mild hot flashes, not nearly what they were before. Our bodies are all different in what we need and respond to, although raw generally seems to help most people.

Do you use salt.
I found that when I started to use Herbamere in my avocados that my flashes returned slightly but went again when I gave it up.

I agree that we are all different. Recently I am even going as far as having these awfull thoughts that maybe it is possible that not everyone should be vegan. I know that I was born to be vegan but maybe that is just me. I am more broadminded than I used to be.
