View Full Version : My grandma is sick

I really need some advice here. My 85 year old grandmother just had a lump removed from her breast as well as some lymph nodes to check for cancer. They found cancer in the lymph nodes and apparently there is some still in her breast. She declined the masectomy, but is looking at doing radiation. Anyone have any ideas as to what the best things for her to eat/drink are? I am thinking green juices, but I'm not sure.
I honestly don't even know how open she will be to doing something healthy but my mom said she will make stuff for her if she is and even if she goes through with the radiation, at least she will have some nutrients in her system.

You might want to check out Ruth Heidrich's site and/or e-mail her directly at RuthHeidrich@juno.com. She is a renown triathlete, cancer survivor, and author ("Race for Life" and the "Race For LIfe Cookbook"). Revvell recently did an interview with her that you may also want to listen to. Sending lots of positve, healing (((((vibes)))))) your way. ~ Cathy

Lafsalot- I listened to that interview a couple of weeks ago. It was very inspiring. If I remember right, she ate mostly vegetables and greens.
EZ Rider- Thanks for the website. I sent it to my mom
We're putting her on a complete healing diet. This is what I've come up with so far. Feel free to add to the list
sesame milk to replace her soy milk

Might also want to add some lycopene-rich foods (ie tomatoes, grapefruit, and watermelon. ~ Cathy

Get her the video Cancer Dosn't Scare Me Anymore. It's worth it's weight in DIAMONDS but costs the same as buying any dvd. Sounds like she has the same situation as Dr Day too and Dr Days 80 year old mother went raw too. get her it before she decides on the drugs you will be so glad you did.

OK. I just heard that your body renews all of its cells within 120 days. That means if she goes raw and becomes alkaline she could be rid of the cancer in 4 months!

Luckitri- I like your thinking.
What do you guys think about this sugar feeds cancer theory and what that means regarding eating fruits?

Solarliving - sorry to hear of your grand-mom's health. From what I've been reading lately cancer feeds on unhealthy cells. If one's body is free from unhealthy cells, meaning eating and maintaining a raw diet, colonics, etc. the cancer will not find anything to feed on. Having said that - yes, I'm sure sugar (the white, bleached, bone-laden crap) is very wicked for one with cancer. Fruits - no.
Two words - Green Smoothies. Start giving her green smoothies!

Thanks all for your kind words.
Veganforlife- Good to know about the fruit. My mom was giving her the green smoothies after her lump was removed, but she didn't like them. So..She bought her some Kyro-green and she mixes it in orange juice. My grandma is not one to prepare food so this is going to take a little coaxing. She was drinking Soy milk and I told her to replace it with Sesame milk. She said, "you mean have to actually make it?" :) Funny grandma.

This book "How I Conquered Cancer Naturally by Eydie Mae"
would be great for her to read. The author is diagnosed with breast cancer and starts out a skeptic about raw food, she goes to Ann Wigmore's mansion in Boston and the concept of raw food is proven to her and her cancer gets better, she goes home and maintains a raw diet and stays cancer free. It is an old book though, it is from the 1970's and talks about medical treatments that happened back then.
About the sugar issue, this book says that she was able to eat everything in the raw food realm but dates. She binged on dates over a period of a few days and her cancer started to hurt again, and so she cleansed for a few days and the cancer healed again.
