View Full Version : Anxiety as detox?

I wonder if anyone has experienced nervous symptoms after a few weeks on the diet. After 2 weeks suddenly I started to get anxiety moments one day, they were gone the next day but I found them strage. It was something like a bad trip, they started suddenly and lasted most of the day but I got better the following days.
My diet had plenty of nuts and good fats along with spinach green smoothies. I'd generally eat till I was full, and when I think of my cooked diet, there's no way that could have been better or sustained me properly at all.
My husband and I came up with a few theories, for instance that my yeast problems might be linked to my nervous system and were acting up from detox. Or that the yeast and/or any other possible parasite I may have was reacting to the cleansing. Or that I simply wasn't eating enough.
I've read alot about physical detox symptoms but this was a nervous reaction and I'd just like to know if anyone has experienced something like this or know what it could have been?

Hi Ive been to a few raw festivals this year & heard a few speakers (Matt Monarch being one of them) talk about the intense emotional detox that they experienced on their raw journeys. maybe this is what is happening? Also I think we detox all the medications we have taken over the years & this must have an effect too. HTH

Yep... I did experience some emotional detox, along with feelings of anxiety, depression, irritation, aggravation, anger, lack of patience, nervousness, crying over little things... (not all at once - lol!) ;) but here and there - moments of this and that - they passed quickly...
this journey is amazing... the healing goes very deep!

I have experienced nervous, anxiety moments during detox as well. I believe, that for me it is a detox response. Our bodies store every emotion, memory, and chemical we have ever ingested. I have also experienced other funny mood moments, I can on some days be quicker to anger, annoyed, or impatient. For me these moments seem to pass rather quickly, lasting maybe a day or so - I just try to breathe, take walks outside, and focus on the health that is blossoming in my body. Stretching is also good for our bodies because it allows us to gently release these "toxins" as well as expand and lengthen our muscles.

Interesting!
I was put on phenobarbital for my first three years of life, I know this deals with the nervous system. I wonder if this was related to the detox..

I had a weird reaction after about 50 days raw.
Just felt really dizzy and my eyes were so tired I could hardly keep them open so this caused a little anxiety for about two hours it lasted, then went away as suddenly as it came. Detox? Probably.

Yes, every time I go 100% I am how viva diva described, mad and flu plus the anxiety, headaches and everything everyone else has described. This is a big hurdle that I have not been able to surmount. I keep falling off 100% partially due to this. I could not go to work the way I was feeling and it is tough at home as well. I can't wait till I can get the book and read all about it!

Ah, I suppose I'm not alone on this! It's probably much better at the end of the tunnel, but getting through it is tough. A gradual approach might be good when you have to work and such.
