hiya
i am new and feeling it. i did mostly raw for two years 2002 - 2004 and found it a prob cos i felt faint in the mornigns when i had the smoothies (think it was the fruit making my blood sugar go mental???) but it was fine ...i got thin. sadly the reason i was doing it was to cure myself od a health problem it didnt cure me one health problem...a pain issue...a nerve pain thing...now...it also didnt cure my 20 years of depression...i hoped it would but...maybe this time?i feel more empowered now. i feel wiser. i feel like i am a better me if you see what i mean so maybe this time i will understand it more?
i am starting over cos i had to go on some pain pills which took me very fast up form 108 pounds to 211 pounds. very fast. in a few months, before i knew it...then i couldnt get off them. now i am. bummer huh. I am an ex model /dancer so gaingin weight (a lot) was very upsetting and more to be depessed about.
now i know the raw food diet is good for me whatever the weather and i know it will make me mt best body and healthy and i know i want to go for it again. so i wanna start with the one month cahellnge.woo hoo guys xx:)
i an in england .
i find in england people think i am a bit freaky for the raw food but i am just interesteed in doing the best for myself and becoming as healthy as i can.
i am a high achiever, a type persionality, good snese of humour, has suffered a lot, very upbeat and LOVING all of you immedately, so so so much and your stories. i am also crappy at typing and also very very stressed easily. i am working on this. i accpet whatever help i can get.i am grateful to be alive and basically in good health and of sound mind. and for my talents oh YES!!!
i aim to go raw in october for one month. then see...i aim to see myself at 125 pounds a s a p and get healthy a s a p. i need to cure allergies and breathing problems cos of the post nasal drip of the allergies. i only had them 7 months.
i love life and wanna get sorted.
pls spport me xx:D

great attitude!! are you wanting to lose 70+ pounds in a month or are u just seeing what this one month journey would be like. u could do a banana search (near the top of page) for topics- new to raw, what to buy, equipment needed for newbies, budget on raw, etc. Your foods that u stated above are correct, some people choose to supplement , for example B-12. Make sure that the nuts u buy are raw and fruit (if it's accesible) organic. I dont know the availability in England, but Shazzie's site may help. Green smoothies, nut pate's, sushi are all great combinations if u like a little variety. Check for online vendors and recommendations for vendors on this site. A great place to start is right here on Alissa's site for oils, berries, chocolate, etc. Good luck on your journey!!

Vegan4life is one of the experts on this!! Do a banana search and you see recipes and concoctions for these. anyway, it is a fruit smoothie with a leafy green veggie in it. a popular one is banana, spinach or romaine lettuce, ice. one of my favorites is honeydew melon, lime juice, watercress, grapes, ice, water. your ratio should be 60:40 fruit to vegetable. gs, for short, can really help u as far as health and weight loss b/c u assimilate the veggies quicker b/c they are blended. Check out Valerie Winters site for the green smoothie experiment, you tube for allm kinds of raw videos including how to make a few and things like nut seed milk, david wolfe for the ultimate smoothie, and victoria boutenko, she has a book and website that talks about green smoothies (and on youtube) and her life being a raw foodist. gliving is good too!

I would just say to make "health" your goal and don't get obsessed with how fast or not so fast the weight comes off. I love the way the people on this site say, "pounds released" instead of pounds lost, since we don't want to find them again. Anyways, if health is your goal, it helps you to focus and ENJOY the food and the journey. But, if I focus on just the weight by weighing everyday, it can be discouraging and not as fun. So, have fun, look at everything on Alissa's site and keep communicating on raw food talk, it is a great community!

ALOHA AND WELCOME TO RFT VIVA DIVA!! RAWK ON!! So glad you have joined us. It sounds like you are ready to get serious about making changes in your lifestyle - that's exciting! Just remember that it is a journey - and we learn as we go. this is not just about the weight loss... but it's about finding who we really are.... and learning to be the best us that we can be. its about learning that the weight didn't come on over night - and it won't leave overnight. It takes dedication, hard work and learning to really love, honor and respect yourself.
Its a beautiful journey - and it's an honor to be on it with you! Its really ashamed shipping to the UK is so expensive... Alissa's book and her DVD were two of the most important tools I had when I first transitioned to raw. But I'm sure you will do fine. Theres a lot of information out there on the internet... blessings on your journey... I look forward to following your posts!
rawk on and enjoy the ride....:D

Never heard of the Phillips but there have been some threads here in the past comparing juicers and blenders from people who understand the mechanics of them much better than I.
Just wanted to tell you that bananas, avocados, nuts and young coconuts really help with the hunger while transitioning to raw. You are retraining your body and it's idea of what being satiated is.

Hi Viva Diva. I have read your posts on the Secret forum. Welcome aboard! :) Glad to have you here, your posts always fun to read. Way to go on all of your manifestations and good luck with your health goals as well.
I just wanted to say I recently moved from Canada to London, England and I know what you mean about the "nutty" factor. But luckily I don't need to explain much to anyone about my eating habits, they just think I eat really healthy. :)
Again welcome!!

Hi Viva Diva Im in the Uk too. Shazzie's site will help you alot, she did a 7 year blog tracing each step of her raw transformation which you can read online (detox your world) & her site sells lots of raw products & Alissa's dvd. Also check out the fresh network for alissa 's book. Kate wood also runs a site called raw living, there is also a site called Total raw food & another called funky raw. If you google raw lifestyle or raw food diet then make sure you restrict your search to uk you will get lots of useful links.
Im not ready to go for it with the month challenge yet but hope to in the new year. Good luck with your challenge, let me know how you get on.
Where are you in the UK? I have been to a few raw festivals this year & heard some awesome speakers. Maybe we could meet at an event in the future? It's great to make contact with a Brit raw fooder, its easy to feel very isolated in the Uk as a vegan let alone a raw vegan!!!!

Yah! Go for the good, good health. The weight will come off by itself. I ws very hungry in the beginning, so if you are, too, the answer is to eat, eat, eat, and don't worry about the calories. Avocadoes are especially good to keep on hand, as they have good fat which will fill you up for awhile. Have fun with the food -- just keep it raw. :)

i just had my 1st one (green smoothie) and i am clearly doing something wrong... as it wasnt very good.two bananas, a punnet of strawberries, ice and a packet of rocket...served about 4 (i had two)i have a blood sugar hit going on already
how can you do 60/40% by weight when rocket is so much lighter than banana and strawberries for example???
i am going for it and already having a hit from the fruit...nasty...dizziness... sudden onset of anxiety symptoms...hope its not just me...and that someone can help....wonder what can be done about that xx
this problem is partly what stopped me last time i went raw, i felt so unwell throughout the diet cos of the blood sugar thing...i have done everything right so far and feel grim xx
did i put in too much rocket...i put in a whole pack...like a large for the week pack! cos i was told 60/40 but strawberries adn bananas weigh a wh9ole lot mroe than rocket dont they???
madness beckons i am sure cos i aint budging here...i am 100% raw

Hey Viva Diva, I hope you work out a GS that you like, sometimes it takes experimentation and you'll find one that works for you - especially in the beginning!! I started off with bananas, romaine and spinach. Sometimes celery and cucumber. You're doing really well and you're going to be amazing at GS soon! xoxo :D
PS. If you have high blood sugar then you may want to eat nuts or have coconut oil before the GS to slow the absorption of sugars, or add more green to your drink.

My favorite green smoothie recipe:
1 very ripe banana
1 cup frozen strawberries and mangoes
1 handful baby spinach leaves
some water
Stevia packet
Sometimes I put some flax seed oil in it too (or some leftover juice instead of water)
Whip it up and drink it down. SO good.
Just a thought - could you maybe find Alissa's book in a bookstore there? That way you wouldn't have to pay shipping???
Her book was SO helpful. Also, Victoria Boutenko's book Green for Life and the other one (name escapes me) about her family's journey to raw...
Good luck!
